DMS 7th Grade Win Poplar Bluff Tournament!
Poplar Bluff, Missouri - The Dexter Middle School 7th grade girls' volleyball team traveled to Poplar Bluff on Saturday to participate in the Poplar Bluff Volleyball Tournament.

"I was extremely proud of every player on the team Saturday," commented Middle School Volleyball Coach Melissa Hahn.  "Every player contributed to get us to the championship game!"

The little Lady Cats played the Doniphan Lady Dons first and won 25-11, 25-7.  The second game was against the Advance Lady Hornets defeating them 26-24, 25-15.  The first set was extremely close, but they managed to pull it out for the win.

Their third game was against the Bloomfield Lady Wildcats and they won 26-6, 25-8 putting them in the first pool with first place.  Advance 2nd, Bloomfield 3rd and Doniphan 4th.  They went on to the Gold bracket.

Poplar Bluff defeated Advance in two sets and Dexter beat Zalma 25-8, 25-10 to put them in the Championship game against Poplar Bluff!

"Poplar Bluff has a lot of talent and it took a total team effort to get their championship victory," continued Hahn.  "The first place game went three sets and was very exciting from start to finish.  The Poplar Bluff Classic 7th Grade Volleyball Tournament is always a fund day and my 8th grade team always goes to cheer and support the 7th grade team."

The Lady 'Cats won the first set 25-20 to Poplar Bluff and then lost the second set 22-25, but they prevailed winning the third set 25-14!

The Bloomfield Wildcats won the silver bracket against Doniphan.

"Poplar Bluff will be coming to the Bearcat Event Center on April 2nd and I anticipate both the 7th and 8th grade games to be real battles," stated Hahn.  "Last year during the tournament we also went three sets with Poplar Bluff in the finals, so the 8th grade game will also be one to watch!  They are coached by Amanda Lance.  She happens to be my niece so it makes for a fun and spirited rivalry!"

The 7th grade Lady Cats are now 7-0 on the season and will be back in action on Monday evening when they travel to Scott City.  game time is 6:00 p.m.

Congratulations on your tournament win!!!
