Leroy Wellington Williams

Leroy Wellington Williams, son of the late Abednego Williams and Lora Moore Williams was born in Ojibway, Missouri on February 12, 1928 and departed this life at his residence in Bernie on March 14, 2015 at the age of 87 years.

Mr. Williams had built and ran Ship Ahoy Lanes in Malden, Missouri.  Later he was owner/operator of S & W Sales of Bernie.  He was a member of Bernie Christian Church.

He was united in marriage to Doris Sargent in Piggott, Arkansas on June 26, 1950.  Mrs. Williams remains in their home in Bernie.

Other survivors include one son, Kerry Williams & wife Cheryl of Holcomb, Missouri; by three daughters, Tara Kifer & Husband Ken of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, Jana Paddock  and Lana Shipman & Husband Darrin both of Bernie, Missouri; by one sister Helen Lindsay of Malden, Missouri; by his grandchildren, Brad & Jess Kifer of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, Kendra & James Grady of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Crystal & Sam Buffaloe of Columbia, Missouri, Holly King of Columbia, Missouri, Darri Shipman and Cameron Shipman both of Bernie, Missouri; by eight great-grandchildren, Bradley, Layla, Josie & Hayes Kifer of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, Marlee & Laynie Grady of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Amelie & James Buffaloe of Columbia, Missouri;  by his beloved caretaker, Joleen Sherrod; also by other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death other than by his parents, by one brother, Willis Williams; by two sisters, Aileen Stafford and Junie Mae Williams.

Per Leroy’s request, Graveside Services were conducted in the Bernie Cemetery, on Monday, March 16, 2015 starting at 4:00 P.M.  

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bernie Athletic Department or Bernie Christian Church.  

 

Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home of Bernie in charge of all arrangements.
