Kenneth Marion Sandusky

Kenneth Marion Sandusky

Kenneth Marion Sandusky, son of the late Grady Sandusky and Ruby Shelby Sandusky, was born on December 25, 1936 in Stoddard County, Missouri and departed this life at Southeast Health Center of Stoddard County in Dexter on March 9, 2015 at the age of 78.

Mr. Sandusky was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Dexter.  He taught 8th Grade Earth Science and Special Education for the Bernie School District and was a resident of Dexter. 

On August 4, 1956 he was united in marriage to Nina Isabelle Allen in Hernando, Mississippi.  Mrs. Sandusky preceded him in death on December 15, 2012.

He is survived by one son, Kenneth Sandusky of Little Rock, Arkansas; by one daughter Sandra Jackson (Dennis) of Bernie; by two sisters, Shirley McRoy of Dexter and Marcella Robertson of Malden; and by one grandson, Darren Jackson of Dexter.

In addition to his wife and parents, three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. 

Graveside services will be conducted at the Sycamore Cemetery in rural Dexter on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Lonny Mittag officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Sycamore Cemetery.

James Ralph Sommers

James Ralph “Jay” Sommers, son of the late James Russell Sommers and Vesta Jane Macom Sommers, was born on September 22, 1937 in Jerusalem, Arkansas and departed this life on March 7, 2015 at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 77.

Mr. Sommers had worked as a farmer and was a resident of Puxico.

On July 4, 1959, he was united in marriage to Nelladene Pinkard.  Mrs. Sommers preceded him in death on October 9, 1978.

He is survived by two daughters, Jane “Janie” Sommers of Poplar Bluff, Missouri and Janice Sommers of Williamsville, Missouri; by one brother, Francis Sommers of Puxico, Missouri; by one sister, Louise Chappel of Poplar Bluff; by three grandchildren, James Patrick McCarty of Jefferson City, Missouri, Daniel Francis McCarty of Warrensburg, Missouri and Emily Eileen McCarty of Williamsville, Missouri; and by one great-grandson, James Patrick “Jay” McCarty, Jr. of Jefferson City, Missouri.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Alfred Sommers and by one sister, Veldena Bradish.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 from 11:00 A.M. to 12:45 P.M. 

A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. at Hagy Cemetery in Dexter.  Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery.

Maggie Marie Eaves
Maggie Marie Eaves, daughter of the late Egbert James and Maggie Florence Middleton Ussery, was born in Owensville, Missouri on July 13, 1940, and passed away on March 6, 2015, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, at the age of 74 years, 7 months and 11 days.

She had been raised in Mountain Grove, Missouri and has lived in Sikeston for many years where she had worked as a bus driver for the Sikeston Public Schools. She was a member of the Old Bethel Baptist Church.

In December of 1987 she was married to Darrell Eaves in Sikeston, Missouri.

Surviving are her husband, Darrell Eaves of Sikeston; three daughters, Deannie Pattillo of Morley, Leah Hoskins of Sikeston, Geannie Mitchell of Mountian Grove; six grandchildren; one great grandchildren; one brother, Jerry Ussery of Pleasant Hill, Missouri and one sister, Carolyn Ballard of Belton, Missouri. Other relatives and friends also survive.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Junior Ussery.

Friends may visit Sunday, March 8, 2015, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 8, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Randy Conn of Morehouse, Missouri officiating.

Interment with be in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.

Jonnie Maddox
Jonnie Maddox, daughter of the late Howard Leamon and Nora Lee Powell Cantrell, was born in Portageville, Missouri on June 2, 1953, and passed away at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on March 3, 2015, at the age of 61 years, 9 months and 1 day.

She had lived in Dudley, Missouri most of her life and was a member of the Church of Christ in Asherville, Missouri. She had worked as a clerk at Wal-Mart.

On October 10, 1989, she was married to William LeRoy "Bill" Maddox in Dexter, Missouri. he preceded her in death on November 2, 2009.
Surviving are six sisters, Mary Jo Sternes of Michigan, Norma Smith of Poplar Bluff, Treva Lee of St. Charles, Missouri, Barbara Case, Patty Freed and Angela Mace all of Dexter; one brother, Willie Powell of Puxico. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one sister, Lottie Laverne Phillips and one brother, Charles Cantrell.

Friends may call on Sunday, March 8, 2015, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 9, 2015, at 11:00 am at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri with Bro. Herman Morse officiating.

Interment will be in the Rock Hill Cemetery near Puxico, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico, Missouri in charge of arrangements.

Karen Jo Norman

Karen Jo Norman, daughter of Benny Jo Jackson and the late Shirley Jean Evans Jackson, was born in Wichita, Kansas on February 7, 1961 and departed this life in Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on March 2, 2015 at the age of 54.

Mrs. Norman was Secretary at Just Rite Cleaners of Malden, Missouri and was a resident of Bernie.

She was united in marriage to Robert Drew “Bobby” Norman in Bernie, Missouri on September 27, 1979.  Mr. Norman preceded his wife in death on October 30, 1996.

Survivors include her father, Benny Jackson of Malden, Missouri; by one son, Shane Drew Norman & wife Sidney of Bernie, Missouri; by one brother Mark Wayne Jackson & wife Jan of Campbell, Missouri; by one granddaughter, Sadie Norman; also by other relatives and friends.

Friends may call at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie, Missouri on Sunday, March 8, 2015 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. 

Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday Afternoon, March 9, 2015 starting at 1:00 P.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Bernie, with Rev. Aulden LeBlanc officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery in Rural Dexter, Missouri.  Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home of Bernie in charge of arrangements.
