Rev. Donald L. Cooper

Rev. Donald L. Cooper was born on October 6, 1926 in Bernie, and departed this life on February 21, 2015 at the Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau at the age of 88.

Mr. Cooper was a General Baptist Minister for forty-six years.  He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and served in World War II.  He was also known for his watch repair abilities.  For the past twelve years, Brother Cooper had worked at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home as a night greeter for visitations.

On June 14, 1947 he was united in marriage to Lela Moore in Bernie.  Mrs. Cooper survives of their home in Dexter.

Besides his wife he is survived by two daughters and son in laws, Judy and husband Sherrill Corbin of Dexter and Gloria and husband Rickie Roberts of Ozark, Missouri; by four brothers, Travis Cooper of Bernie, Billie Cooper of Dexter, Ardie Cooper of Junction City, Kansas and Roger Cooper of Bernie; by five sisters, Geraldine Pyle of Dexter, Darlene McGowan of Bernie, Betty Thurston of Bernie, Cora Coker of Republic, Missouri and Janet Wood of Malden; by six grandchildren and their spouses, Kevin Corbin and wife Karen, Tammy Roberts Stubblefield and husband Ernie, Deana Corbin Brents and husband Kevin, Christi Corbin Hubbard and husband Brad, Erick Roberts and wife Shannon, and Alicia Roberts Swofford and husband Billy; by eleven great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Gloriaetta Beaird.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Sunday, February 22, 2015 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.  

Funeral services will then be conducted on Monday, February 23, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Biggs officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
