Hans Warren Porter

Hans Warren Porter, son of the late James E. Porter Jr. and Anna Reffert Porter was born on December 24, 1953 at Dexter and departed this life in the emergency room of the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center on February 15, 2015 at the age of 61.

Mr. Porter was baptized at the Rivers Of Life Ministries near Dexter, a former seam buster for Elder Manufacturing Company in Dexter, a former carry out for Town and Country Super Market in Dexter, a former resident of Dexter and was currently residing in Puxico.

He is survived by two sisters and their spouses, Henny Vandiver-Baisden (Curtiss) and Marianna Burge (Jimmie) all of Dexter: also by nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Ingrid Morlan and by one brother, Harry Porter.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 12:30 P.M. until 2:30 P.M., Thursday, February 19, 2015. 

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 P.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Danny Collins officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery near Dexter.

Jimmy Glenn Bridges Sr.

Jimmy Glenn Bridges Sr., son of James Glenn Bridges and the late Shirley Faye Tucker Bridges was born in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on November 3, 1959 and departed this life at his residence in Bernie, Missouri on February 10, 2015 at the age of 55.

Mr. Bridges had worked at IXL and Bootheel Auto Upholstery both of Bernie, was a member of Bernie General Baptist Church.

Survivors include his father, James Glenn Bridges of Park Hills, Missouri; one son, Jimmy Glenn Bridges, Jr. and wife Darla of Bernie; by three brothers, Darrell Bridges of Dexter, Missouri, Robert Bridges of Villa Ridge, Missouri and Danny Bridges of Park Hills, Missouri; by one sister, Linda Price of Bernie, Missouri; by two grandchildren; also by other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death other than by his mother, by four brothers, Norman Bridges, William Dub Bridges, Gary “Archie” Bridges and J.C. Wilburn. 

Friends may call at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie, Missouri on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M.  

Funeral services will then be conducted at 11:00 A.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Bernie.

Terry Lynn Cravens Freeman

Terry Lynn Cravens Freeman of Euclid Ohio, daughter of Chester G. Cravens and Marcelene Bowman Cravens, was born on July 31, 1951 in Dexter, Missouri and died on February 4, 2015 at her home in Euclid, Ohio at the age of 64 years.

Terry was a Dexter High School graduate and graduated from SEMO University at Cape Girardeau, Missouri.  After earning her Master’s Degree in Education, Terry became the literary instructor for the Euclid School District where she worked for 25 years.

Terry was married to Mark Freeman in Dexter, Missouri on December 30, 1972.  Mr. Freeman survives of the home. 

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Lindsay Freeman of Ithica, New York and Lauren Freeman of Euclid, Ohio; by her mother, Marcelene Cravens of Dexter; by one brother, Gary Cravens and wife Sandy of West Plains, Missouri; by one sister, Janna Kay Schwartz and husband Brian of Roanoke, Virginia; and by one grandson, Cullen Freeman of Euclid, Ohio.

Besides her grandparents, she was preceded in death by her father, Chester Cravens; by two aunts, Jeanette Satterfield of Dexter and Norma Bowman Walker of Franklin, Tennessee.

Terry was dearly loved by her family, friends, fellow educators and all that had the privilege of knowing her.  She will be missed by all.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time.

Carl Lee "Dub" Griffin, son of the late Thomas H. and Ruby Harvey Griffin, was born in Vanduser, Missouri on September 25, 1933 and passed away at his home in Puxico, Missouri on February 7, 2015, at the age of 81 years, 4 months and 12 days.

Dub had lived in Puxico most of his life. He had worked at Arvin and was a member of the Duck Creek Baptist Church in Puxico. He enjoyed camping and being with his family.

On May 1, 1953, he was married to Lola Limbaugh in Puxico, Missouri.

Surviving are his wife, Lola Griffin of Puxico, Missouri, three daughters and spouses, Barbara (Bruce) Campbell of Puxico, Tresia (Lloyd) Hyten of Dexter, Lorie (Reggie) Williams of Puxico; Eight grandchildren, spouses and children, Ben and Jenny Campbell and daughters, Gracie and Brylee of Puxico; Casey and Jacob Sluder and daughters, Austin and Chander of Dexter; Brittany and Matt Fox and daughters, Matti and Braylen of Wappapello; Chris and Kayli Hyten of Poplar Bluff; Clay Harty and fiance` Rachel Retasket of Point Lookout; Whitney Hyten and fiance` David Horton of Dexter; Makayla Harty and Mandy Williams of Puxico; one brother, Glen Griffin of Lee's Summit, Missouril; and three sisters, Edith Parks of Puxico, Jean Roberts and Dorothy Arnold both of Bedford, Indiana. Other relatives and friends also survive.

He was preceded in death by his son-in-law Jeff Harty, four brothers Bus, Arch, Tommy and Bud Griffin; two sisters Hazel Griffin and Louise Henson.

Friends may call on Monday, February 9, 2015, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri.

Services will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at 10:00 am at the Duck Creek Baptist Church in Puxico, Missouri with Bro. Doug Clinton of Senath and Bro. Buck Cruise of Puxico officiating.

Interment will follow in the Puxico Cemetery in Puxico with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico, Missouri, in charge of arrangements.

Eva Jane Gregory

Eva Jane Gregory, daughter of the late Troy Vernon Bell and Flora Keathley Bell was born on October 12, 1926 in Eola, Arkansas and departed this life on February 6, 2015 at the SoutheastHEALTH Center of Cape Girardeau at the age of 88.

Mrs. Gregory was a member of the Parma Church of Christ.  Mrs. Gregory had owned and operated G & E Grocery Store in Parma with her husband for twenty-one years.  She was very proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

On January 19, 1944 she was united in marriage to Granville Grady Gregory in Piggott, Arkansas.  Mr. Gregory survives of their home in Dexter.

Besides her husband she is survived by two sons, Reginald Kent Gregory and wife Theresa of Advance and Steven Neil Gregory and wife Belinda of Malden; by one daughter, Nina Jean Graves and husband Mel of Sikeston;  by one daughter in law, Angie Gregory of Dexter;  by one brother, Ernest Bell of Dexter; by one sister, Edith Dozier of Parma; by five grandchildren, Chris Graves, Bradley Graves, Jason Gregory, Darron Stauffer and Stephanie Gregory and by seven great-grandchildren, Sydney Graves, Macy Caroline Graves, Paisley Jane Gregory, Collin Michael Stauffer, Jackson Lewis Stauffer, Camerin Todd Stauffer and Lauren Cathryn Stauffer.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by one son, Granville “Cate” Gregory and by one sister, Doris Catron.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Monday, February 9, 2015 from 10:30 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. 

Funeral services will then be conducted on Monday, February 9, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Roy Sherfield officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Parma Cemetery.
