The victory comes on the heels of the Poplar Bluff High School Competition Cheer Squad’s back-to-back state championship. The high school athletes will go on to compete at the National High School Cheerleading Championship on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 7-8, at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla.
The Junior High Cheerleaders are: Braelin Aldridge, Destanee Barton, Eva Bedell, Cara Bubanovich, Libby Burdin, Bailey Edmundson, MacKenzie Garrett, Katlynn Hall, Taylor Hicks, Alexis Lady, Courtney McGee, Danni Raymer, Emma Steffan, Rachel Shock, Maddie Mae Shumate, Carly Wiseman and Emily Young.
Poplar Bluff, Missouri - The MFA Oil Foundation, based in Columbia, has awarded a grant to the Three Rivers Endowment Trust, to be applied toward the cost of purchasing and mounting new TVs in an ITV classroom at the Sikeston Academic Building.
The MFA Oil Foundation provides support to nonprofit organizations that are working to improve communities where MFA Oil has a significant concentration of members and employees. Since it was established in 1998, the MFA Oil Foundation has awarded more than $1 million in grants.
MFA Oil President and CEO Mark Fenner described the MFA Oil Foundation as “a program that allows our company to give support back to the rural communities that are the foundation of our business. The grants the Foundation awards help support many youth programs and organizations active in addressing and solving community problems and improving the quality of life.”
The Three Rivers Endowment Trust is a 501(c)(3) organization that receives and manages donations on behalf of Three Rivers College. The Endowment Trust provides a mutually beneficial means for individuals and businesses to partner with the college. Dexter, Missouri – This spring, the Shelter Insurance Foundation will award a $2,000 scholarship to a graduate of Dexter High School. Shelter Agent Matt Thurmon sponsors and partially funds this scholarship.
A committee of local high school officials and community leaders will select the local recipient. The committee will consider each applicant’s scholastic achievements, educational goals, citizenship, moral character, and participation and leadership in school and community activities. The scholarship is given without regard to race, disability, religion, national origin, or gender of applicants. The name of the recipient will be announced at the close of the school year.
The student may apply the scholarship funds towards tuition, fees, or campus housing for any course of study beginning the fall after the recipient’s high school graduation and leading to an academic degree at any accredited college or university. The Foundation makes payment directly to the school the recipient selects.
Applications and additional information about the Shelter Foundation Scholarship will be available in early March and should be completed and returned to the school official serving on the selection committee by March 31st. Kourtney Brown of Dexter made the Dean's List. Heather Davis of Dexter made the Dean's List and Sigma Chi Eta honor society. Richard Forshee of Essex made the Dean's List and Sigma Chi Eta honor society, and Ryan Kleffer of Essex made the Dean's List.
Students must maintain a 3.5 GPA to be on the Dean's List and must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 to be in the Sigma Chi Eta honor society.
