Clifford (Bud) Carlton Shell was born in Dexter, Missouri to parents Clinton Casper and Eva Mae Vaughn Shell on January 9, 1937.  Mr. Shell went home to the Lord on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri among family and friends.

Graduating from Dexter High School in the class of 1955, Clifford was a life time resident of Dexter.  He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the First Baptist Church of Dexter.  Bud was second generation owner of City Motor Sales later known as Bud Shell Ford with the business soon to celebrate their 72nd anniversary. 

In 1997, Bud was named Man of the Year by the Dexter Chamber of Commerce, an accolade that attested to the many contributions he had made to the City of Dexter and surrounding communities.

Clifford was united in marriage to Priscilla Smith in Hernando, Mississippi in 1957.  To this union three children were born, John David (Patti) Shell, Robert Alan (Debbie) Shell and Mary Elizabeth Shell all of Dexter.  Six grandchildren, Clinton (Jeri) Shell of Puxico, Olivia Shell (Adam) Carter of Jackson, Missouri, Clayton Shell of Dexter, Tyler (Alexa) Montgomery of Nashville, Tennessee, Christine Barnes of Dexter and Elizabeth Farrah of Essex.  Three great-granddaughters, Zoey, Gabbie and Freya Shell.

In 1991, Clifford was married to Patty Kinder of Essex.  Clifford is survived by his wife of the home, step-sons, Todd (Joann) Kinder of Dexter, Travis (Tracey) Kinder of Hot Springs, Arkansas and step-grandchildren, Abbi and Maddie Shell of Hot Springs, Arkansas, McKenna and Cooper Tidwell of Dexter.  Sisters, Pat (Wendell) Taylor of Anderson, South Carolina and Sue (John) Morlan of West Plains, Missouri.  Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins survive also.

Besides his parents, his sister, Phyllis Rehm, preceded Mr. Shell in death.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. 

Services will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Roy Sherfield and Glynn Jarrell officiating. 

Interment will follow in Chalk Bluff Cemetery in Dexter. 

The family requests that memorials be made to the Keller Public Library, 402 West Grant Street, Dexter, Missouri 63841 or the Stoddard County Children’s Home, Memorial Tribute Fund, P.O. Box 164, Dexter, Missouri 63841.
