Edna Revalee Williams

Edna Revalee Williams, age 98, a long-time resident of Dexter, Missouri, went home to be with the Lord at her residence on January 14, 2015.  In her final days she was surrounded by family

Edna was born on April 10, 1916 in Bernie, Missouri to the late Thomas and Treasa Whitehead.

She was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Edna had a quick sense of humor and never-ending curiosity to try new adventures.  An excellent seamstress and quilter, she spent hundreds of hours in her earlier years sewing for family, making beautiful quilts and embroidering large floral or nature scenes.

At age 70, she taught herself to type and began researching her family history, compiling several books, which she gladly shared with all those who had similar interests, and gave helpful advice to others who were starting to do research on their own family tree.  Edna was a voracious reader and prolific writer.

Later, she took up oil painting, displaying most of her art in her home for family, friends and visitors to enjoy.

At age 83, she began collecting shells from the coast of North Carolina.  She picked up thousands, bringing them home and making pieces of art to share with family and friends.  She was happiest giving these beautiful wreaths, flower pots and decorative balls away to others.

She was generous and kind to all.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Treasa Whitehead; her husband, Franklin Matthew Williams; her brother, Avery; and her sister, Velta Lee.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughters, Beverly Velazquez, Babara Miriani and Betty Hitchuk; grandchildren, Jon Heikka, Adrienne Miriani, Allison Miriani and Anthony Miriani; great-granddaughters, Maile Heikka and Rebecca Putvin; sisters, Wanda Gough and Delta Ivy; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home, 125 West Stoddard Street, Dexter, Missouri on Saturday, January 17, 2015 from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M.

A private interment will follow.

The family extends their appreciation to VNA Hospice for their support and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to:  VNA Hospice, P. O. Box 1608, Sikeston, Missouri  63801
