Ada Robey
Ada “Granny” Robey of Sikeston, was raised by her grandparents, the late John and Clair Morlan, was born in Greenbriar, Missouri on August 18, 1923, and passed away at her home in Sikeston, Missouri on December 17, 2014, at the age of 91 years.

She lived in the Avert, Missouri area most of her life and moved to Sikeston 24 years ago. She worked at the International Hat Company for many years. After her retirement she was a Foster Grandmother at Southeast Elementary School in Sikeston.

On August 12, 1939, she was married to Delfis Harding Robey in Avert, Missouri. He preceded her in death on April 3, 1991.

Surviving are one daughter, Frankie Sullins of Sikeston, Missouri; three grandchildren, Mike Robey of New Madrid, Missouri, Fonda Dodson of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Dean Robey of Dexter, Missouri; three step-grandchildren, Ron Sullins of Norfolk, Virginia, Beckey Crumpecker and Pam Eldridge both of Sikeston; five great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Delfis “Moe” Robey and one son in law, Chuck Sullins.

Friends may visit on Saturday, December 20, 2014, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 20, 2014, at 1:00 pm at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Missouri with Bro. Ray Duffey of Cape Girardeau officiating.

Interment will be in the Walker Cemetery near Bloomfield, Missouri with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home of Bloomfield in charge of arrangements.

Lloyd Edward Zimmerman

Lloyd Edward Zimmerman, son of the late John Ernest Zimmerman and Nora Ethel McGowen Zimmerman, was born in Bernie, Missouri, on November 3, 1920, and departed this life at the Golden Living Center in Malden, Missouri, on December 15, 2014, at the age of 94.

Mr. Zimmerman had worked in Michigan and California for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier until his retirement.  He attended the Nazarene Church in Bernie and in Dexter. 

Mr. Zimmerman was united in marriage to Lena Pearl Clark on November 9, 1940, and they had three children:  Dennis, Danny, and Guyneth.   Lena preceded him in death in 1989.

Survivors include one son, Dennis Zimmerman and wife Edlynn of Chino Hills, California; one daughter, Guyneth Zimmerman of Durango, Colorado; one brother, Harold Zimmerman of Bernie, Missouri; one sister, Geraldine Blackman Sturges of Campbell, Missouri; four grandchildren, Diedre Navarro & husband Rainer, Kyle Zimmerman & wife Holiday, Tyler Zimmerman & wife Jennifer, and Jacob Zimmerman & wife Debra; by nine great-grandchildren; and by other relatives and friends. 

Mr. Zimmerman was preceded in death by one son, Danny Zimmerman; one son-in-law, Tom Everette; three sisters, Pearl Mickey, Dimple Miller, and Marjorie Zimmerman; three brothers, Herschel, Howard, and Melvin.  He was also preceded in death by his wives Evelyn Freeman, Minnie Zimmerman, and Marjorie Renfro. 

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie, Missouri, on December 18, 2014, from 12:30 P.M. until 1:30 P.M.  

Funeral services will then be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Bernie starting at 1:30 P.M. with his grandson, Kyle Zimmerman, officiating. 

Internment will follow in the Stephens Chapel Cemetery in rural Malden, Missouri, with Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Stephens Chapel Cemetery Fund, c/o Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie, or to the Dexter Nutrition Center in Dexter, MO.

Betty Lou Davis Minton

Betty Lou Davis Minton, daughter of the late Dr. Sam Severy Davis and Nola Parmenter Davis, was born on November 10, 1927 in Bloomfield, Missouri and departed this life on December 16, 2014 at her residence near Dexter at the age of 87.

Mrs. Minton was the oldest living member of the First United Methodist Church in Dexter. She was an educator for twenty-nine years, teaching in Stoddard County rural schools, Central Elementary and Southwest Elementary in the Dexter Public School System.  She and her husband, Keith, were sharecroppers on the Buckhorn Plantation.  She then worked on the family farm after retirement from teaching from 1978 until her death.

She was united in marriage to Keith Meade Minton on July 25, 1948 at Dexter.  Mr. Minton preceded her in death on November 10, 2006.

Survivors include two sons, Davis D. Minton and Bradley A. Minton both of Dexter: also by other relatives and friends.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Keith Meade Minton Jr., by two brothers and five sisters.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A. M., Thursday, December 18, 2014.  Graveside services will follow in the Sycamore Cemetery near Dexter with Dr. Barry Winders officiating.

Maggy Bess, daughter of the late Nolan Travis and Virginia Williams Thomason, was born in Harrell, Arkansas, on November 28, 1944, and passed away at her home in Puxico, Missouri on December 12, 2014, at the age of 70.

Maggy had lived in Florida for 10 years and returned to Puxico where she has lived the past 18 years. She was a member of the Christian Church and most enjoyed spending time with her family. She worked for Mel's Diner in Puxico as a cashier.

Surviving are two daughters, Bami (Michelle Kennedy) Parsons of Clearwater, Florida, Cindy (Randy) Martin of Puxico, Missouri; one grandson, Jarrett Martin of Puxico, one granddaughter, Jacie Parsons of Clearwater, Florida; three brothers, James (Wanda) Thomason and Royce (Shelby)  Thomason both of Malden, Missouri and Ronnie (Nola) Thomason of Bernie, Missouri; one sister, Alice (Larry) Smith of Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Other relatives and friends also survive.

Friends may visit Saturday, December 20, 2014, after 11:00 a.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 20, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri with Bro. Art Norris of Puxico, Missouri officiating.

Interment will be in the Rock Point Cemetery near Swinton, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico in charge of arrangements.

The family requests memorials be made to the Stoddard County Children's Home, PO Box 164, Dexter, MO  63841.

Wilma Ping of St. Louis, daughter of the late Steven and Jewell Riles Baker, was born in Portageville, Missouri on November 27, 1932, and passed away at the Brookview Nursing Home in Maryland Heights, Missouri on December 14, 2014, at the age of 82 years and 17 days.

She had lived in the St. Louis area for many years where worked and retired after many years of service for Southwestern Bell and AT&T.

Surviving are one son, David Wright of St. Louis, Missouri; two grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Friends may visit on Wednesday, December 17, 2014, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 18, 2014, at 11:00 am at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Missouri.

Interment with be in the Bloomfield Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home of Bloomfield in charge of arrangements.
