Jessica Lindsey Signs to Play Volleyball at MAC

Dexter, Missouri - On Thursday afternoon, Jessica Lindsey signed to play volleyball at Mineral Area College.

“I talked to a lot of colleges, but Tim was very adamant about having me come there.  When I visited up there it felt right, like when you have a gut feeling.  All the girls were nice on the volleyball team and the apartments were really nice.  I just liked it. It’s not too big and it’s not too small.”  Her classmate and fellow volleyball teammate Shyann Jines also signed with MAC – click HERE for her article).

Jessica is the daughter of Elaina Lindsey and Kevin and Sara Lindsey.  She has been a member of the Track Team her 9th grade year and a member of the Lady ‘Cats Volleyball Team all four years of her high school career.

She is a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Future Teachers of America.

“I am going to get my associate’s degree at MAC and then I am going to transfer to a four-year school, finish up, and get a degree in physical therapy,” Lindsey said.  “With being hurt all the time I have been in physical therapy a lot and I like what they do.  I want to work with kids and I am going to focus on early childhood physical therapy.”

Lindsey was named the Stoddard County Freshman of the Year and has been a member of the First-Team All Stoddard County Volleyball Team.  She also was All-district her freshman, sophomore and junior years.  Her junior year she was on the All-Region Team and was on the Honorable Mention All-State Team.

This year she earned Class 3, District 1 All-District All-Tournament team First Team, All-Region First Team, and All-State Second Team.  She also received the Dexter Defensive Player of the Year award and the Most Kills award.

Her varsity team went 29-4-1 this season and won the SCAA Tournament for a second straight season, won the 48-Team Dig for Life Classic for the first time in school’s history and won their Class 3 District tournament for the first time in 14 years.  They also went undefeated in regular season SCAA play.

Lindsey was also selected at co-MVP of the Dexter Lady Bearcat’s 2014 volleyball team along with her classmate Shyann Jines.  She finished her season with a total of 138 digs, 72 blocks, 15 aces served, a team-high 297 kills, and a 99.6 serving percentage.

“I have been watching these two since last year,” commented coach Tim Copeland of Mineral Area College about Jessica and Shyann.  “They seemed like they fit what I was looking for in my program.  I needed an outside hitter and a setter/defensive kind of kid, and I think Shyann will fit that.  We will move Jessica from the middle to the outside and let her swing on the outside, and just go free a little bit.”

“Coach Copeland has really brought the MAC volleyball program a long way, stated Dexter coach Carmen Morgan.  “I know him form when he coached when I was at Clearwater.  He’s a good guy and I think he will take real good care of these two!”

Congratulations Jessica Lindsey on your signing and we will see you on the court again next year at Mineral Area College!
