
Rev. Lex Junior Horner, son of the late Clyde and Hazel Furrow Horner was born at Risco on January 2, 1936 and departed this life for his heavenly home on Friday, October 31, 2014 at Southeast Health Center of Stoddard County at the age of 78.
Lex was a loving husband, father and grandfather who lived his life to the fullest. He was an avid hunter and fisherman in his younger days and later took up his greatest challenge, golf. He loved to race cars, ride and restore motorcycles and travel the open road in their RV. He traveled all over the United States attending Christian Motorcycle Rallies and ministering to prisoners through the Bill Glass Prison Ministry. His greatest joy was sharing his love of Jesus Christ. Lex was a former construction superintendent for Sunbelt Construction and pastor of Westside Baptist Church.
On April 25, 1992 he married Patricia Keathley Mize. Mrs. Horner survives of their home.
Besides his wife he is survived by five children, Pamela Harrelson, James (Bennetta) Harrelson, James (Marjorie) Mize, Pennie (Tim) Hattey and Teresa (Ken) Huckaby; by three brothers, Jerry Horner, Joel Horner and Allen Horner; by thirteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Molly Wheeler, Barbara Musgrave and Regina Lang.
Visitation was held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter on Monday, November 3, 2014 from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 P.M. Funeral services were then conducted on Monday at 2:00 P.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Mike Pope and Gary Kelly officiating. Interment followed in the Dexter Cemetery.
