Cape Girardeau, Missouri – The annual MSHSAA girls volleyball championships are this weekend and will be hosted at the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau.
The Bloomfield Wildcats departed this morning after a very loud and exciting pep rally. This is their first time in the final four since 1992 and their only state title. Can they do it again? The entire Stoddard County community is behind them and proud they are representing us at the state games.
Under first-year coach Sherilyn Long, the Wildcats (23-11-2) will play in the round robin against the likes of Fatima (32-3-1), Liberty (26-3) and St. Paul Lutheran (32-4-2).
It all begins Friday, October 31st at 10:00 a.m. when the Wildcats take the court against Liberty (Mountain View). Then at noon they play Fatima and at 2:00 p.m. they battle it out against St. Paul Lutheran (Concordia).
The teams who finish first and second in each pool will play for the state championship. Third place games will be Saturday morning through 1:30 p.m. with the state championship games beginning around 3:00 p.m.

Dexter, Missouri – We have a three-way tie between Jason Pounds, Kurt Lovelady, and Marc Thrower. These guys will have 24 hours to pick their teams beginning at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, October 30th and ending, 6:00 p.m. Friday, October 31, 2014. We will play until the tie has been broken! Dexter, Missouri – The Middle School boys basketball program held their home opener following the delicious Old Fashioned Chili Supper at the T.S. Hill Middle School. Both the 7th and 8th grade teams won defeated Woodland 52-20 in the 8th grade competition and 50-18 in the 7th grade game.
Dexter scored double digits in the first three periods of the 8th grade game to secure their win.
Eighth grade athlete Seth Rogers recorded a game-high 13 points including 2 treys for the Bearcats. Braxton Foster tallied 10 points and Nate Gargas and Eric Hahn each added 8 points. Hahn recorded two treys.

Dexter, Missouri – At least once each season the Dexter Lady ‘Cats get to step onto the court at the Bearcat Event Center and play their hearts out in front of a large crowd. Tonight was that night for the Middle School Bearcats! They hosted Twin Rivers and easily defeated them in both the 7th and 8th grade games.
The 8th grade team defeated Twin Rivers 47 – 13. Chaylea Mosby recorded a game-high 23 points for the Bearcats including one 3-pointer. She was the only Lady ‘Cat in double digits. Anna Bishop recorded 7 points including one trey.
Dexter scored 20 points in the first period and 13 points in the second period to cushion their lead at the half 33 – 4.

Fisk, Missouri – The Dexter boys basketball teams opened their season with wins in both the 7th grade and 8th grade programs on Monday evening. The 7th grade team beat Fisk 46-28 and the 8th grade team won 62-14.
In 8th grade action, Nate Gargas paced the Bearcats with 14 points while Seth Rogers finished in double digits adding 12 points to the board. Eric Hahn tallied 7 points, Braxton Foster and Garrison Collier each scored six points and Joe Rice added five points.
Dexter scored 28 points in the first quarter of the 8th grade game to increase their advantage over Fisk.Jack Scruggs recorded a game-high 15 points in the 7th grade game. Brodie Pollock finished in double digits with 12 points. Spencer Warren also tallied 10 points. Logan Wyman added five more points to help the Bearcats win.
Dexter’s 7th grade athletes scored 16 points in both the first and second periods to ensure a Bearcat win!
