DHS Students Make All-District Choir

Cape Girardeau, Missouri - The All-District High School Choir auditions were held on Saturday, September 27th at Cape Central High School.  It’s quite an honor to place at the District Level.  Student worked very hard for months in preparation to sing to the best of their ability.

Dexter High School choir members are under the direction of Jamie Sepulvado.   Each student prepared a song which they sang for a panel of judges, then they had to identify key signatures and sight-read two pieces of music during the audition.

Junior and senior students may now audition for All-State Choir, which will be held on Saturday, November 8th also at Cape Central High School.

Shown in the photo above are:  Front row from left are Shelby Gathings, Lauren Thrower, Noah Kronk, Brooks Propst, Jon Rodgers, and Cadence Pullam.  In the middle row are Emily Johns, Angel Maze, Sarah Miller, Natalee Pedroza, Caroline Powers, Madelyn Webb, Abby Mangum, Meg Simmons, and Ashlynn Wyman.  In the back row are from left, Jake Cunningham, Tres Hampton, Ryan Mayo, Andrew Teel, Jackson Babb, and Greyson Stephens.

Students Celebrate Johnny Appleseed Day

Dexter, Missouri – Mrs. Putnam’s class celebrated Johnny Appleseed Day with pots on their heads and “applicious” treats!  They also enjoyed delicious muffins pie apples and Carmel dip, apple sauce, apple butter, apple juice, dried apples and apple chips!

John Chapman aka Johnny Appleseed was an American pioneer who introduced apple trees to a large part of Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indian, and Illinois.  He became an American legend while still alive, due to his kind, generous ways and the symbolic importance he attributed to apples.

He was born on September 26, 1774 in Leominster, Massachusetts.

Shown in the photo are Emily Bolin, Alex Munoz, Taylor Boner, Eli Scott and Houston Neely.
