Dexter, Missouri – “Service Above Self” is the motto of the Dexter Rotary Club. This group of dedicated individuals spends hundreds of hours each year volunteering for many charities and raising money for local scholarships.
Last year the Rotarians decided to help the people of Moore, Oklahoma after their town was hit by a devastating tornado. Other projects besides their scholarship program have been a tree beautification project, helping feed the hungry through the Stoddard County Gospel Mission, they host numerous Blood Drives each year including the Rally for Riley Blood Drive in May, they host an Annual Food Drive,and have generously donated to the Disabled Veterans Wildlife Facility.
The Rotary Club also hosts a Spaghetti Supper, Ham & Bean Day in conjunction with their high school group, the Rotary Interact Club, work a booth at the Stoddard County Fair, and host a Chili Day each year to raise additional money for charities and scholarships.
The Dexter Rotary Club’s annual Four Person Scramble is Friday, June 20, 2014 with tee-off at 1:00 p.m. at the Hidden Trails Country Club.
A Polo T-Shirt will be given to each player. Awards will be given for the Longest Drive, two closest to the Pin Holes, and Longest Putt. This is an 18-hole scramble and free beverages will be offered on the course and a light meal following your afternoon of fun in the sun. There will also be prizes for two flights. Entry of $75 includes Mulligans, Skins and 50/50.
Sponsors for the event are greatly appreciated and can sponsor a hole for just $100. Your name or business name will be on the tee box.

The Dexter Rotary Club is also having a membership drive. If you are interested in becoming a member please come out and enjoy an afternoon of golf or just visit with the Rotarians for a bit. The public in encouraged to visit the Hidden Trails Country Club where an information booth will be available.

Dexter, Missouri – Join the Corner Cottage of Dexter from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. to share their blessings with the Mother-to-Mother program while “showering” them with items they could certainly use.
Mother-to-Mother program is in need of diapers, wet wipes, laundry detergent, rattlers, pacifiers, band-aids, infant toothbrushes, infant toothpaste, antiseptic ointment, baby lotion, baby wash, baby shampoo, teething rings, coloring books, crayons, and children’s books.
Through the mentoring program young women are given the resources and skills they need to become good parents and productive members of society.
Hope you can stop by Saturday, June 14, 2014 to enjoy refreshments while showing yur support for this great local program.

Stoddard County, Missouri - The American Red Cross has two Blood Drives schedule for June in Stoddard County.
The American Red Cross encourages eligible blood donors to make and keep donation appointments to maintain the summer blood supply and help prevent a shortage. Donors of all blood types are currently needed, especially those with type O negative, B negative and A negative.
While the need for blood remains constant during the summer, donations drop. Between June and August, on average, two fewer donors give blood at each Red Cross blood drive than what hospitals need. This seasonal decline could be overcome if just two additional donors – above what is expected – give blood at each Red Cross blood drive this summer.
Every two seconds someone in the United States needs blood. Recently, a patient needed 79 blood products after injuries sustained during a car accident. Thanks to blood donors who gave in the days and weeks prior, blood products were readily available for this patient and thousands of others at approximately 2,700 hospitals and transfusion centers across the country supported by the Red Cross.
This summer, there are 100 chances to give hope with the Red Cross by giving blood. Visit redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS to learn more and make an appointment.

How to donate blood
Simply call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit redcrossblood.org to make an appointment or for more information. All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental consent in some states), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.

Stoddard County, Missouri – Four members of the Stoddard County 4-H attended the 2014 State 4-H Congress held on May 28th – 30th on the University of Missouri – Columbia campus. They learned “Skills of a Superleader” including life skills from experts, experiencing living on a University campus, they elected State 4-H Council Representatives and made lots of new friends.
They attended informative workshops such as Duct Tape Roses, Harry S. Truman and the Atomic Bomb, Interactive Theatre Performance, Veterinary School Admissions, Citizenship Learnshop and they were able to go to the Capital in Jefferson City.

When you first hear the word cancer you become numb. Your mind begins to race with thoughts of painful treatments, your family, your work, and even death. It is 18 FORE Life’s hope that watching this video will empower you to inspire others to support such a wonderful organization and help those who are facing their greatest battle in life.
You will begin to understand what a cancer survivor fears and how a shocking diagnosis has forever impacted their lives. For caregivers, watching their child or loved one endure treatment after treatment and somehow manage to balance work, bills and life is more than challenging. 18FORE Life gives comfort to those who receive these love offerings. It’s more than just money. It’s about caring and knowing that someone is thinking of you.
David Robinson with October Skies Production, Inc. created an amazing video of 18 FORE Life love offering recipients. It was shown at the 18FORE Life banquet on Friday, June 6, 2014. Take just 15 minutes and watch. Grab a tissue as there was not a dry eye in the house Friday night! These courageous men and women shared stories of their journey and struggles of dealing with cancer.If you were not able to attend the banquet it's a must see. If you were there is well worth watching again.
