Martha N. Burge, daughter of the late William R. Neely, Sr. and Cleona Batten Neely, was born on September 6, 1927 in Tulsa, Oklahoma and departed this life on May 17, 2014 at Washington County Memorial Hospital in Potosi, Missouri at the age of 86.
Mrs. Burge was a member of the Essex First Baptist Church where she served as secretary, was a resident of Essex and had worked as a clerk at OTASCO in Dexter. She was formerly a house parent at Stoddard County A.R.C.; delivered Meals on Wheels and was a volunteer for the elderly.
She was united in marriage to Earl W. Burge on April 9, 1950 in Wyandotte, Oklahoma. Mr. Burge preceded her in death on June 2, 1976.
She is survived by one son, Charles William (Wanda) Burge of Potosi, Missouri; and by three grandchildren, Stacey Burge, Benjamin Burge and Amy Burge.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Joyce Elaine Burge; by one brother, William R. Neely, Jr.; and by one sister, Juanita Tippit.
Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Thursday, May 22, 2014 from 12:30 P.M. to 2:00 P.M.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Ed Champion officiating.Interment will follow in the Essex Cemetery.
