Gene Fields, son of the late Rufus Fields and Pauline Williams Fields was born on September 7, 1935 in Portageville, Missouri and departed this life on May 7, 2014 at SoutheastHEALTH of Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 78 years.

Mr. Fields was a former employee of Bud Shell Ford in Dexter for 10 years and also a former employee of Richland High School for 17 years. He was a member of the New Bethel Church and a resident of Dexter.  Gene was a loving Husband, best dad ever and an awesome PawPaw, and an avid outdoorsman.

He was united in marriage to Louise Clayton on June 9, 1956 in Senatoba, Mississippi.  Mrs. Fields survives of the home in Dexter.

Besides his wife, survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Terry Fields and Vicky of Dexter; three daughters, Tammy Fields of Dexter, LaRhonda Gibson and companion Ronald Taylor of Dexter, and Lesa Holland and husband Brett of Dexter; by five grandchildren, Chrissy Herren and husband Shannon of Piggott, Arkansas, Joshua Gibson of Dexter, Travis Holland of Ballwin, Missouri, Chelcy AuBuchon and husband Reggie of Lake Saint Louis, Missouri, Matthew Schoffstall of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; three great-grandchildren, Lexi Herren, Lindsay Herren, and Brynlee AuBuchon; by two brothers, Jeff Fields and wife Brenda of Springfield, Missouri, Kenneth Fields and wife Patti of Republic, Missouri, two sisters, Gladys Chase of Dexter and Margaret Adams and husband Bob of Bernie, Missouri.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 11:00 until 1:00 P.M. Saturday May 10, 2014. 

Funeral services will then be conducted on Saturday May 10, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter with Rev. Dean Williams officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Dudley Cemetery.
