Essex, Missouri - Third Quarter is officially over (after being extended an extra week due to the winter weather) and we are moving into Fourth Quarter, which means the Junior High will soon be taking the MAP test and high schoolers will be taking their EOCs.
High School News from Principal Mrs. Cindy Rhodes:
Believe it or not, we are entering the MAP and EOC Zone! It is a little nerve wracking for everyone involved to think that we have missed so many school days and are getting ready to be assessed on things that should have been covered in class when…we haven’t even been in class! The students may begin to feel the pressure as teachers try to make up for lost time and cover as much as they can prior to testing to make sure they are prepared as they possible can be. Seventh and eighth grade will begin testing April 23rd through May 15th. High school will begin taking EOC’s April 6th and will also go through May 15th. More information on testing times, dates, and subjects will be released at a later date. Since we have missed so many days, good attendance is more important now than ever.
Also, a big congratulations is in order for Mrs. Stephanie Monroe for receiving the National Beta Gold Seal Sponsor Award. She receives a pin and will be recognized at National Convention this summer. Also, there are several students who have won recent events and/or elected for an office in an organization. It is quite an impressive list and congratulations to all of them!
Eighth grader Luke Rhodes placed second in the State Junior Beta Social Studies test. He will be competing in Richmond, Virginia in June during the Junior Beta National contest. Eighth grader Joshua Shidler finished fifth in the Wire Sculpture category for Richland at the Beta contest as well.
Congratulations to Richland’s FCCLA chapter! We made quite the impression on our Regional FCCLA chapter after competing for office back in January. Charlie Atchison was elected Regional President, Tristan Montgomery was elected Regional Vice President, and Alexis Accord was elected as Regional Secretary. They were sworn into office in late February.
Today was also the District History Day Convention, where we had a large amount of students go to compete in!
