Wind Damage Possible in Southeast Missouri Thursday

A developing line of thunderstorms capable of producing damaging wind will race across eastern Missouri Thursday afternoon ahead of a cold front.  The severe risk, including isolated tornadoes, is much higher as this line reaches Tennessee, Kentucky, Southern Illinois and Indiana.  However, wind gusts of 40 to 60 mph will be common with the squall line as it passes through Southeast Missouri between 4 and 7pm Thursday.  Estimated arrival times are 4 to 5pm in Poplar Bluff, close to 5pm in Dexter, and between 5 and 6pm in Sikeston.  When the skies threaten, residents and motorists in Stoddard County are encouraged to seek shelter indoors, preferably away from windows, trees and power lines.
