Dexter, Missouri - The Stoddard County Gospel Mission received the largest donation ever from the Dexter School District making this year's Stuff a Bus fundraiser a HUGE success!

Students, faculty and staff joined forces with Santa Clause to donate 14,626 cans to the Mission.  "It is so great to see these students participate the way they do.  They will make families who are struggling a little happier this year."  stated Kim Slavings, Director of the Stoddard County Gospel Mission.  "Each year I am amazed by the participation and generosity of the Dexter schools.  Thank you!"

"These are the moments that make this school district special," stated High School Principal Dan Pollock.  This is Mr. Pollock's first year at the helm as principal and has truly been an inspiration to many.

If you know a student or employee of the Dexter School District, please take the time to stop and say "Thank You".  It was a team effort and despite the snow and loss of a few school days, the students really shined in their efforts to make this a worthwhile cause and a special Christmas for many families in need.

"Everyone was a winner today!"  exclaimed Pollock.  "I am extremely proud of the students."

Middle School had the largest collection and will receive an ice cream party courtesy of OPAA

Dexter, Missouri - Students who reach 100% of their Accelerated Reading goal are awarded each month with a special prize.

Central Elementary celebrates the hard work and dedication it takes for students to accomplish their goal.  This month three students won goodie baskets full of prizes and gift cards.

Fred M. Young Sr. / SAE Engineering Scholarship- The Young Radiator Company established this scholarship in memory of the company’s founder, Fred M. Young, Sr. Mr. Young started the company in 1927 and saw it grow to become a major force in the field of Heat Transfer. He had a high regard for the value of engineering in terms of its contribution to the success of society.

Mr. Young felt that the profession’s nobility lay in its focus on building rather than allocating the assets of the world and improving rather than administering the product of our work. Fred M. Young, Sr. was a life member of SAE and was elected to the Fellow grade of membership in 1982.

Student Eligibility Requirements:

-U.S. resident.

-3.75 or better grade point average on a 4.0 scale (required).

-Rank in the 90th percentile in both math and critical reading on SAT I or composite ACT scores.

-Pursuing an engineering degree through an ABET accredited program.

Terms of Scholarship:

-One scholarship will be awarded each year for $1,000.

-Scholarship may be renewed at $1,000 a year for three additional years (total award $4,000).

Application Deadline: January 15

How to Apply:

-Begin the application process online.

Submit: Application, Official high school transcript, SAT/ACT scores

Selection and Announcement of Recipient:

Recipient will be selected by the SAE Scholarship Committee and notified by the end of June.

All SAE Scholarship winners will be posted in July/August.

Payment of Scholarship Funds:

-This scholarship will be paid into your account at your selected university in July/August.

-It can be used for tuition or any other incidental school expenses.

Terms for Renewal of Scholarship:

May be renewed for $1,000 per year for three additional years.

-Must maintain a 3.0 grade point average.

-Submit the renewal form by May 30.

Burger King Scholars Program- The Burger King McLamore Foundation is offering scholarships between $1,000 - $50,000.  This scholarship is available to high school seniors and Burger King employees.  There will be 1,258 scholarships awarded.  The maximum amount of a scholarship is $50,000.

To apply for the scholarship, you must complete the following:

-Register and create an online account

- A list of your work experiences and involvement in school and community activities
-A current transcript of grades
-BURGER KING employee information if your application is to be affiliated with an employee
-If applicable, your family's financial information (a copy of your parents' most recent tax form filed with the IRS or Revenue Canada may be helpful)

To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

-Be living in the United States, Canada or Puerto Rico

-Be graduating high school seniors (U.S. and Puerto Rico), graduating from grade 12 (Canada) or graduating from home school education in the U.S., Puerto Rico or Canada

-Have a cumulative high school grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, or the equivalent

-Plan to enroll full-time, without interruption, for the entire academic year beginning in the fall at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school in the U.S., Canada or Puerto Rico

Recipients of the James W. McLamore WHOPPER Scholarship will be chosen from the general applicant pool (please see provider site for more eligibility requirements)

Children of employees and employees pursuing a traditional postsecondary education are also eligible to apply (please see provider site for detailed eligibility requirements)

The purpose of the BURGER KING Scholars program is to assist employees, employees' spouses or domestic partners, employees' children and high school seniors in the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada in continuing their education. To date, the program has awarded more than $17.6 million in scholarships and the program continues to grow. Last year alone $2.2 million in scholarships were awarded.

Dexter, Missouri - With all the cancellations and students missing school, the holiday scheduling of sports, concerts and other events is about to get overwhelming.  Tonight you can sit back and relax and enjoy the 7th and 8th grade students singing in the T.S. Hill Middle School gym.  It's just what you need to get into the Christmas spirit!

Thursday, December 19th - Middle School Band Concert

Each concert will begin at 6:00 p.m. and be performed in the middle school gym.  The parents, grandparents, family and friends are encouraged to attend as well as the general public.  Enjoy the holidays by listening to Christmas music performed by our very own middle school!
