Dexter, Missouri - Introducing the 2013 Kickin' Cats Dance Team!  Though they have not had a performance just yet due to our wonderful Winter weather.  Games have either been cancelled or rescheduled into February, but that hasn't deterred the girls from practicing and preparing for their first performance!

The Kickin' Cats will perform with the Dexter Senior High School Cheerleaders on Saturday, December 28th during the 57th Annual Bloomfield Christmas Tournament.  They will also be at home on January 7th at the DHS Boys Basketball game.  Expect to see them at all of the home boys and girls varsity basketball games.

Front row are Kelsi Wood, Shelby Gathings, Rachel Putnam, Keasha Hubbert. 

Middle row are Ashley Long, Sarah Richardson, Chandler Crowley, Moriah Payne, Krysta Winstead, and Mallory Travis. 

Back row are Caprese Bostic, Kaitlin Noble, Jackie Kiger, Caroline Powers, Taylin Leija, Kaylea Murdock, Myca Sutton, and Chelsea Mullins.

Can't wait to see these girls on the court performing!

Paragould, Arkansas – The Lady Bearcats traveled to Arkansas on Saturday to compete in the Championship game against the host school Paragould.   The defending champion Bearcats managed a victory and defeated the Lady Rams to win the Championship two years in a row.

The Lady Rams were able to hold Dexter to 10 all in the first quarter, but the second period was all Lady ‘Cats.  They scored 19 points in the second quarter holding the Rams to just one basket.  Half-time score was Dexter 29 – Paragould 12.

Paragould pushed back in the 3rd quarter outscoring Dexter by a basket, but it did not prove enough for a win.  Dexter and Paragould tied in the 4th quarter each managing to score just 12 points.  Final score Dexter 55 – Paragould 40.

Four Bearcats were in double digits.  Hannah Noe had a game-high 12 points for Dexter.  Melanie McKuin, Alison Jarrell and Paige Patterson each tallied 11 points.  Nine of Alison Jarrell’s points came in the way of 3-pointers.  Hannah Noe added 2 as well as Dakota Reynolds who added one 3-pointer.

It’s the second straight season that Dexter has defeated Paragould in the McDonald’s Shootout.   The Rams lost last year by a score of 42 – 37. 

Congratulations to Hannah Noe, Paige Patterson, Alison Jarrell and Erika Cobb who were selected to the all-tournament team.

While many teams have not played scheduled games due to weather the games must go on!  The 2013 seeds have been released for the Bloomfield Christmas Tournament and brackets are set.

The #1 seed is Kennett followed by Hayti.  Kennett is currently 2-3 so far this season with Hayti 4-0.  Bernie is ranked #3 followed by South Pemiscot and Twin Rivers.  Dexter fell into the #7 spot.

Cape Girardeau, Missouri - The Dexter Bearcats traveled to Cape Girardeau to take on the Bulldogs of Notre Dame and the Poplar Bluff Mules in a triad.

Poplar Bluff was able to capitalize a few pins and defeated the Dexter Bearcats by a score of 34-28.  However, Trevor Waldner secured his 100th win in the 132 lb weight class defeating Ty Harmon by pinning him in just less than five minutes. Way to go Trevor!

Storm Massey won by decision over Jaron Glass in the 145 lb weight class.

Ethan Steven pinned Poplar Bluff’s Dakota Coleman in the 152 lb weight class and Dylan Bazarian pinned Colton Jordan in the 160 lb weight class in just over one minute.

The Bearcats did much better against Notre Dame.  They defeated the Bulldogs 69 – 6.

Gavin White pinned Hunter Miller in 50 seconds in the 126 lb weight class while Storm Massey defeated Matthew Lathum in 3 minute dual on the mat.

Ethan Stevens won by decision over Aaron Schlosser 11 – 8.  Dylan Bazarian and Jake Adams both pinned their opponents.  Adams pinned his opponent in just 58 seconds.

Paragould, Arkansas - The Lady Bearcats traveled to Paragould on Thursday afternoon to compete in the 1st round of the McDonald's Shootout Tournament.  The first match-up for the Bearcats were the Blue Devils of Hughes, Arkansas coached by Thomas Foster.

It didn’t take the Lady Cats long to score and score and score!  The Blue Devils may have jumped ahead in the first few seconds of the game, but that's all the motivation it took for the Lady 'Cats to strike back! In just the first quarter alone they jumped ahead 42 – 7.  They held their opponent to only one point in the second quarter and continued their drive to win 97 – 15.  Way to go Bearcats!

The Lady ‘Cats scored double digits in each quarter with a game-high first quarter of 42 points.  The Blue Devils never scored more than 7 points in any one-quarter.  Dexter had a comfortable lead at half-time with a score of 56 – 8.

Hannah Noe #10 had a game-high 23 points including 7 field goals.  Alison Jarrell #12 fell in right behind her with 22 points including 2 free throws.  Paige Patterson, #22 playing center for the Lady Cats tallied 16 points including 4 free throws.  She also had 13 rebounds.

Dakota Reynolds #1 scored 13 points along with Sydney Rogers #21 who added 7 points to the board.  MaKayla Waldner #30 and Erika Cobb #15 each added 6 more to help the Bearcats to an awesome win!

Alison Jarrell hit six of Bearcat's eight treys.  Both Dakota Reynolds and Sydney Rogers added one each. 

Bearcats were able to force the Blue Devils into 41 turnovers.  Dexter had only 7 turnovers.  Pretty impressive!

Final Score:  Dexter Bearcats 97  Hughes Blue Devils 15
