Dexter, Missouri - The First United Methodist Church of Dexter, Missouri is joining the fight against malaria.

A Christmas Eve Candlelight Service will be held at the church located at 501 South Walnut Street on December 24 at 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Pastor Barry Winders announced that 100% of the offering from these services will go to Imagine No Malaria.

Imagine No Malaria is an extraordinary effort of the people of The United Methodist Church, putting our faith into action to end preventable deaths by malaria in Africa, especially the death of a child or a mother.

Every 60 seconds, malaria claims a life in Africa. Millions of lives, needlessly lost each year. Malaria has been killing for thousands of years. This disease was eliminated in the U.S. in the 1950s, but Africa was left behind. The community is invited to join in the effort to stop this terrible disease.

You may donate to Imagine No Malaria at the Christmas Eve Services or by mailing your donation to P.O. Box 156, Dexter, Missouri. If you would like more information, please contact the church office at 573-624-3344 or go to www.imaginenomalaria.org.
