Essex, Missouri – The Elementary Students at Richland have been busy, busy, busy working in class and having fun on their brand new playground. In the last week, the students have been visited by the American Dental Association and were taught the importance of good oral hygiene. They also celebrated the opening to their new playground and pavilion and the end to their basketball and cheerleading season.

-              December 2- RES Family Fun Night (5:30-6:30) and PAT visit with Santa (5:00). Games, arts and crafts, and some cookies will be provided to snack on.

-              December 9- band concert 6:30

-              December 11- Open Library

-  December 14 - The Christmas play will be hosted in the gymnasium where the high school students will perform. All families are welcome, it will be a great event! Concession stand will be open throughout the show. We look forward to seeing you there!

-              December 17- Elementary Music Program at 1:00 and a repeat performance at 6:30.

-              December 20- dismiss at 12:00; end of second quarter

-              Tutoring will be held each Tuesday and Thursday.  Students must have a parent sign a permission slip in order to stay for tutoring.

-              Please remind students to wear a warm coat or jacket to school each day.

-              Look for the next RES update on Friday, December 6 for the next list of important dates!

Congratulations to the fourth graders for winning the November Myon reading contest. They will be rewarded with a popcorn party later this week. Due to Christmas break arriving in just a few weeks, there will be no Myon contest for the month of December. However, the next Myon reading contest will begin on January 6th when we return. So, keep turning those pages, elementary readers!

As the first semester comes to an end, there are students that should be recognized for their good works, including the December Elementary Student of the Month, Madison Worley (5th grade).

The students that are on the Principal Scholars (students with straight A’s) are: Noah Moyers, Alesia Eaton, Alexia Kemp, Alexas Leeper, and Abbigale Wheeler.
