Essex, Missouri – The junior class at Richland High School are working hard to make their first prom and the senior class’s last prom a memorable one. Since the beginning of this year, the junior class and the members of the Prom Committee have developed plans, fundraisers, and a theme for their favorite high school event in May. Project Prom was started at Richland many years ago so that the kids had a safe and fun place to enjoy time with their friends and dates after the dance.

Last night (Monday, November 18th), the junior class and the Project Prom Committee (junior and senior class parents and supporters) worked at Sikeston’s Pizza Inn from four to ten o’clock and received all of the tips and 10% of the sales that will go towards their Project Prom.

The Project Prom Committee is also currently creating wreaths to help raise funds. These handcrafted wreaths are fabricated out of geo-mesh and ribbon. The holiday wreaths will contain festive ornaments. If you would like to order a wreath, the money must be turned in when the order form is turned in. You can place your order at either the elementary or high school office (make all checks payable to “Project Prom”).

Medium and large wreaths are available to purchase. The medium wreath will be $35 while the large will be $40. There are multiple different style options to choose from including: Rebel (Red, white, and gray) with a wooden “R” in the center of the wreath (chevron or polka-dots), Peppermint Christmas (red and white), and Blue Christmas (blue and silver). The deadline to order a wreath is tomorrow, Wednesday, November 20th. The wreaths will be distributed on Tuesday, November 26th.

Aside from the wreaths, the juniors and the Project Prom Committee parents are also selling Tutus. The Tutus will be perfect for the upcoming high school varsity basketball season and other junior high sports. The small, medium, and large tutus will be $12 and the extra large will cost $15. The deadline to order these will be on this Friday, November 22nd. Order forms are available in both the high school and elementary office (make checks payable to Project Prom).

The color schemes for the tutus include: Rebel (red and gray), Christmas (Red and green), Breast Cancer Awareness (hot and light pink). If there are any questions about the tutus, please contact junior Aimee Whitney at 573-421-4614 or Project Prom Committee Member Candy Harper at 573-380-6288.

Thank you for supporting the junior class!
