United States - SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY - Exceptional student leaders are invited to apply for the 2014 GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program. In honor of the legacy and character of President Ronald Reagan, this program annually rewards up to 20 college-bound students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship with $10,000 renewable scholarships (up to $40,000 per recipient).
Like President Reagan, candidates use the formative experiences of their youth to lead, serve, and pursue a life of progress, both individually and for their communities. Help put promising young leaders in the running for this prestigious award. Poplar Bluff, Missouri - The award-winning, Grammy-nominated duo of Dailey and Vincent will perform for one night only at the Tinnin Fine Arts Center in Poplar Bluff. The show, which is part of Three Rivers College’s “Patrons of the Arts” series, will be held on Monday, October 28 at 7 p.m.
Known for their powerful vocal harmonies and their high-energy shows, the duo of Jamie Dailey and Darrin Vincent has dominated the bluegrass music scene since the band’s founding in 2007. Their sibling-style harmonies have sold out shows across America, including their first appearance at the Tinnin Center in 2011.
“We’re excited to have Dailey and Vincent back for a second year, thanks to the Patrons of the Arts series,” said Bob Cook, Director of the Tinnin Center. “It was an incredible show last time, and we expect to sell out again this year.”
Tickets for the show are $10 each, and are available at the Poplar Bluff and Dexter Chambers of Commerce,the Business Office on Three Rivers’ Poplar Bluff Campus, online at trcc.edu/tinnin, and at the door.
Patrons of the Arts shows at the Tinnin Center are made possible through the support of the Patrons of the Arts Society, a non-profit group dedicated to providing quality music, art, drama, dance, literature, lecture, and film to the community through Three Rivers College. Dexter, Missouri - Central and Southwest Elementary schools in Dexter have received grants from Ronald McDonald House Charities to support their Accelerated Reader programs.
The funds will be used to provide motivational prizes for students as they work to increase their reading comprehension and proficiency.
The Ronald McDonald House Charities supports non-profit children's programs in the areas of education, health and social well-being, and the cultural arts. The local chapter awarded over $250,000 in grants to projects in the tri-state area in 2012.

"Three Rivers main campus in Poplar Bluff normally offers the GED test one Saturday each month," said Diane Patterson, coordinator of the Testing Center at Three Rivers College. "We're offering this so that people in surrounding areas can have a chance to take the GED closer to home."
Those interested in taking the test should contact the Testing Center for an information packet, which includes the testing application and step-by-step instructions. The Testing Center can be reached by phone at 573-840-9667, or by email at testing@trcc.edu.
Students must be at least 17 years of age to apply for the test, and must submit their application with a $20 application fee to the state. Upon receipt of the application, the state GED office will send the student an authorization form and candidate's responsibility sheet. Students must also complete the eight-page demographics form, available at the Poplar Bluff Adult Education and Literacy Center, and where other GED classes are offered, such as the Three Rivers Center at Kennett.
Students must submit their state authorization form, candidate's responsibility sheet, completed demographics form, and a $20 testing fee to the Three Rivers Testing Office prior to the test registration deadline on October 16, making the total cost of taking the GED $40. No paperwork or walk-ins are accepted the day of testing. Mailed paperwork must be in an envelope large enough not to bend or fold the forms.
Those interested in taking GED classes before the test should call the Poplar Bluff Adult Education and Literacy Center at 573-686-2011, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The center is located next to the Crisp Technology Center on the Three Rivers main campus.
"Students are not required to take classes before taking the test, but it could be beneficial in passing the test the first time around," said Patterson. For more information on registering to take the GED, contact the Three Rivers Testing Center.

Dexter, Missouri - The T.S. Hill Middle School faculty show their support for the St. Louis Cardinals this week as they battle it out against the L.A. Dodgers.
"We hope our spirit finds its way to L.A. and help them secure one more win and earn a trip to the World Series," stated middle school principal Scott Kruse.
