Clyde E. Laird, Jr.

Clyde E. Laird Jr., son of the late Clyde E. Laird Sr. and Martha Rice Laird was born on June 12, 1954 at Dexter and departed this life on August 6, 2013 in his residence at Idalia at the age of 59.

Mr. Laird was of the Baptist faith, a former tow motor driver for Purolator Filter Company in Dexter, enjoyed fishing and was a resident of Idalia.

He was united in marriage to Veda Wamble on April 3, 1976 at Essex, Mrs. Laird survives of the home at Idalia.

Besides his wife, survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Cathy Laird of Ft. Bragg, North Carolina: by one daughter, Misty Laird of the home in Idalia: by two brothers, Sam Laird of Wappapello and Lyndell Laird of Advance, Missouri: by one sister, Loretta Whittley of Bloomfield.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Leo Laird, Leon Laird and Larry Laird: by one sister, Nola Hoggard.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M., Friday, August 9, 2013. 

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 10, 2013 in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bruce Cheney officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.

Paul Rinck IV

Paul Rinck IV, a resident of Dexter, died on Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013 at the SoutheastHEALTH Center of Stoddard County at the age of 37.  He was born September 30, 1975.

Visitation for Mr. Rinck will be conducted on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. with funeral services conducted at 6 p.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter. 

The family suggests memorial donations may be made to the 18 Fore Life Charity Foundation, c/o Scott Kruse, 705 Laurie Circle, Dexter, MO 63841.

Elvis “Chip” Alexander Mooney Jr. son of the late Elvis A. Mooney Sr. and Edna Lois Mooney was born on August 8, 1957 in the Saint Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau and passed away on August 2, 2013 at the SoutheastHealth Hospital in Cape Girardeau at the age of 55.

Elvis lived his whole life in the Bloomfield area.  He graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau with a B.S. degree in Business Administration and later a M.A. in community counseling.  He graduated from St. Louis University with a J.D. Law Degree.  He and his father owned and practiced in Mooney and Mooney Law Firm for many years.  Elvis became a community counselor at the end of his working career.  He was a member of the Bloomfield Masonic Lodge #153.  He was also a member of the American Seed Saver Association.

On August 31, 1985 he was united in marriage to Regena Suzette Waltrip at the Calvary General Baptist Church in Kennett.  Mrs. Mooney survives of the family residence.

Besides his wife he is survived by one sister, Kathryn Skelton of Bloomfield; by one nephew Robert “Alex” Barney and by one great-nephew, Oliver Barney.

There will be a public grave-side service conducted on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. in the Walker Cemetery near Bloomfield with Rev. Sue Welborn officiating. 

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Stoddard County Children’s Home %P.O. Box 164, Dexter, Missouri 63841 or the American Kidney Fund.

Roger Stephen Quinton, the son of the late George M. and Wilma Imogene Shell Quinton, was born in Dexter, Missouri on April 24, 1945, and passed away at the Southeast Health Center of Stoddard County in Dexter, Missouri on August 5, 2013, at the age of 68 years, 3 months and 12 days.

He had lived in Dexter, Missouri all of his life. He was a musician and played the guitar at many area locations. He had worked at IXL as a machine operator.

Surviving are two daughters, Susan Walker Malden, Missouri and Kimberly Adkins of Pollard, Arkansas; three sons, Stephen Quinton of Dexter, Missouri, Robert Quinton of Vincennes, Indiana, and Christopher Quinton of Washington, Indiana; three brothers, James Quinton of Bloomfield, Gary Quinton of Sikeston, Bob Quinton of Grandin, Missouri; a sister, Ellen Maghrabi of Albany, Oregon; and fifteen grandchildren. Other relatives and many friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one daughter in infancy, Anna Mae Quinton.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 7, 2013, from 5:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri.

Dora Annabelle Bissel
Dora Annabelle Bissel, daughter of the late Guy and Minnie Ross Bissel, was born on April 27, 1925, in Newport, Arkansas and passed away at the Golden Living Center in Malden on August 3, 2013, at the age of 88 years, 3 months and 7 days.

She had been a resident of Southeast Missouri all her life and had worked at the Florsheim Shoe Factory. She was of the Pentecostal Faith.
She is survived by one sister, Hazel Swindel of Lilbourn; one brother, J. C. Bissel of Parma. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one brother, Earl Bissel and one sister, Ella Mae Bissel.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 4, 2013, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Parma.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 5, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Parma.
