Dexter, Missouri - The Rotary Club of Dexter recently hosted their 8^th Annual Golf Tournament.  Each year the proceeds from the tournament are used for community service projects, student scholarships and other worthy causes and this year was no different.

With their motto, “Service Above Self” the Rotarians chose to donate half of the proceeds to the victims of the Moore, Oklahoma.  A tornado in May of 2013 practically wiped the town off the map.

Linda Puchbauer, Assistant District Governor of the Rotary was on hand Tuesday evening at Hickory Log to receive the check from the previous Rotarian President, Mr. Ken Harris. 

Ken was instrumental in spearheading the idea of donating to such a worthy cause and made every effort to help make this year's golf tournament enjoyable.  Along with several members of the Rotary Club, the tournament thrived with success.  In all, a check was donated in the amount of $3,050 to help those affected by the tornado.

The Rotary Club felt that supporting the relief and recovery efforts related to this tragic event was important because so many families suffered.  More than 13,000 homes were destroyed or damaged, in addition to businesses and schools.
