Melvin Eugene Zimmerman

Melvin Eugene Zimmerman, son of the late John Ernest Zimmerman and Nora Ethel McGowen Zimmerman was born in Bernie, Missouri on September 6, 1923 and departed this life at his residence in Bernie, Missouri on May 3, 2013 at the age of 89.

Mr. Zimmerman was a Veteran of the United States Army having served in World War II.  He had Owned and operated MFA Service Station in Bernie, Missouri for several years, had also farmed and was a member of the Bernie Church of Christ.

He was united in marriage to Pansy Leona Raybron in Malden, Missouri on July 15, 1942.  Mrs. Zimmerman survives her husband in their home in Bernie.

 Other survivors include, two sons, Darrell Zimmerman and Mike Zimmerman both of Bernie, Missouri: by two daughters, Sharon Durham  of Bernie, Missouri and Judy Watkins of Paducah, Kentucky; by two brothers, Lloyd Zimmerman and Harold Zimmerman both of Bernie, Missouri; by one sister, Geraldine Blackman Sturges of Campbell, Missouri; by 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.  Also by other relatives and friends.

 He was preceded in death other than by his parents, by one son, Roger Zimmerman in 1993; by one grandson, Daniel Eugene Zimmerman; by two brothers, Hershel Zimmerman and Howard Zimmerman; by  three sisters, Dimple Miller, Pearl Mickey and Marjorie Zimmerman.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie, Missouri on Sunday, May 5, 2013 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. 


Funeral services will be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Bernie, on Monday morning starting at 11:00 A.M. with Stan Dauck officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.  Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
