Essex, Missouri - The students at Richland Elementary School have had a lot of celebrations due to their many successes during this school year. Today, the students had a perfect attendance record, which means that every student was there for MAP testing, including the kindergarten through third graders also. The elementary principal, Cara Merritt, rewarded the students with ice cream cones and other sweet treats.
The whole first grade class was recently rewarded a pizza party due to their attendance at Richland’s PTO fundraiser at McDonald’s. The PTO members worked at McDonalds and received a percentage of the earnings to put towards their PTO Scholarship, which was given to high school senior Baylee Taylor.
As the upper elementary students finish up MAP testing, the younger students will begin Terra Nova Testing. Once that is finished, the Richland PTO will reward the kids with the annual “Play Day”. Play Day has been a part of Richland for many, many years and it helps the students celebrate the end of state testing and the end of the school year. Many high school students, including Beta Club members, help out with the activities, snacks, and games.
This year’s Play Day will be held on May 15th, two days before school is released for summer. The students are very excited and are looking forward to a day spent on the play ground with their friends, teachers, and some of the parents.
