
Velvadean "Dean" Hendrix, daughter of the late Richard Overton and Lula Jackson Overton Hodge, was born in Zalma on December 25, 1926, and passed away at the Westwood Hills Health Care Facility in Poplar Bluff on February 23, 2013, at the age of 86 years.
She was raised in Puxico, spent from 1951 to 1990 in Alton, Illinois and moved to Wappapello in 1990. She was a member of the Lakeland Assembly of God Church in Wappapello.
On November 2, 1946, she was married to Leland Hendrix in Piggott, Arkansas. He preceded her in death January 4, 2011. Also preceding her in death were her parents, a loving step-father, Washington Hodge, her brothers, Benton, Basil, Bazel, Beauford, Richard; a sister, Vernola; a step-sister, Lula Potter; and a granddaughter, Angela (Hendrix) Winegar.
Surviving are one son & wife, Richard & Jenny Hendrix of Apple Valley, Minnesota; three daughters and husbands, Paula & Larry Wooldridge of Maryville, Illinois, Connie Hendrix and Lula & Michael Larson both of Kansas City, Missouri; six grandchildren & spouses, Rachael & Craig Butler, Matthew & Erin Wooldridge, Christopher Hendrix, David & Sueann Schwent, Ryan McBee and Mia & Don Southerland; 13 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; two sisters, Vadola Martin of Puxico and (Victoria) Ruth George of Alhambra, Illinois. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
Visitation will be Friday, March 1, 2013, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico.
Services will be held Saturday, March 2, 2013, at 11:00 AM at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico with the Rev. Arvin Haynes of Wappapello officiating.
Interment will be in the Fagan Cemetery near Puxico with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico in charge of arrangements.
