Ed Boyt
Edward Albert Boyt, son of the late J.H. Boyt and Marie Linnemann Boyt was born on October 14, 1932 in Dexter and died on January 22, 2013 at his residence in Dexter at the age of 80.

Mr. Boyt was a graduate of Dexter High School and Southeast Missouri State University.  He taught art and shop classes in Bloomfield and Dexter.  His military career began as a member of the Missouri National Guard.  He entered upon active duty in July 1963.  He was the company commander of C company 2nd Bn. 5th Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division, in Vietnam.  In 1966, he was transferred into Military Intelligence. 

Colonel Boyt commanded a clandestine organization with the mission of satisfying military requirements worldwide.  He was retired from active duty in 1981.  After retirement, Col. Boyt became a successful watercolor artist with his works being held by individuals and corporations in the US and Canada.

He is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Wheeler of Bella Vista, Arkansas and Anna Marie Irons of Tucson, Arizona; by one son, Andrew Boyt of Tucson, Arizona; by two brothers, Carl Barker of Ballwin, Missouri and Charles Barker of Overland, Missouri and by five grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, January 25, 2013 at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with Charlie Kruse and Tom Thrower speaking.  Full military honors will be conducted. 

Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter is in charge of all arrangements.
