Lady Cats Run past Kennett
January 07th 2013 by Jim Reiker

The first two minutes of the game were close with the Cats only up 8-4. They then turned up the defense pressure and went on a 22-2 run to take a first quarter 30-6 lead.
The girls continued the pressure in the second quarter forcing 27 first half turnovers in route to a 53-15 halftime lead. More of the same in the second half as Kennett was shut out in the third quarter and scored only one basket in the fourth on the way to the 89-17 final.

The Dexter girls basketball coach Chad Allen said the game plan was to attack Kennett from the inside-out from the get-go. "Coming into this game I knew Kennett was down a little bit from previous years," Allen said. "For the most part we knew they had lost a lot of size inside and we really wanted to try to get the ball inside. I thought Paige Patterson and Brittany Harris definitely finished real well inside."
In the JV contest, Dakota Reynolds lead four players in double figures with 25 points, including 5 three pointers as the JV Cats downed Kennett 69-17. Congratulations to both teams. Those girls work really hard and are good athletes.
Both teams return to action Thursday night as they travel to Neelyville (7-3) to take on the Lady Tigers. Neelyville has not won their last three games and are looking to snap their losing streak. Game time is at 6 pm.
