MAGGIE THORN TO PERFORM

Good morning. I hope you and your family had a great weekend. I wanted to get you a quick update on the Radical Christmas details, but first I wanted to share some exciting news about the past 2 weeks at First UMC.

Two weeks ago we welcomed over 700 to our services!  This past week we saw right at 600! The worship has been off the charts. We as the staff want to thank you for continuing to reach out to your friends and inviting them to church as we pursue the mission of leading people in new life with Jesus. Now on to Radical Christmas...

Due to the interest, the Radical Planning Team has decided to add a second service. So here's the rundown.

  • On December 21st at the Miner Convention Center, we will offer 2 identical services: times will be 5pm and 7pm. The music will be provided by our very own Journey Worship Band, a community choir directed by Terry Sapp, and special guest Maggie Thorn.
  • Pastors from 7 different churches will be involved in both services. Over 10 churches are partnering with us.
  • The gift and grocery distribution will take place immediately following both services. Currently 300+ children have signed up. Did you know that 1 out of 4 children in SE Missouri go to bed hungry. That's over 21,000 kids in the 16 county area. Isn't that disturbing?
  • We will need lots of volunteers. Please reply back to this message to sign-up. If you're not able to serve, I hope you'll still come and enjoy the night.
  • This is a free event. No tickets necessary. It will be a very uplifting experience for everyone in attendance. The past 2 years have been standing room only. We should have plenty of room this year with the additional service. It's a great opportunity to invite your friends. Please spread the word.
I've had the privilege to speak with many of the people who will be receiving the gifts and groceries. I want you to know how grateful these people are to God. Because of God working through you, their prayers have been answered. They have experienced hope through you. It's one of the coolest experiences I'm able to be part of.
