Joy Marie Riggins Hampton, daughter of the late Travis “Jack” Riggins and Rose Isaac Riggins was born on November 10, 1940, in Dudley, Missouri, and departed this life on Saturday, November 24, 2012, at her residence in Dudley, Missouri, at the age of 72.
She married Ervin Hampton in 1965 and moved to St. Louis where she worked for Southern Pacific Communications. From their union, three daughters were born. Mr. Hampton preceded her in death on July 1, 1982. She later moved back to Dudley and was a homemaker.
In August of 1987, she met a very special man, Marion “Red” Lynch, and spent the rest of her life with him by her side. She is survived by three daughters, Linda and Lloyd Hull of Puxico, Brenda Hampton of Dudley, and Sharon and David Phillips of Puxico; three grandchildren, Mandy Hampton Powell and her husband, Eric Zachary Hull, and Dalton Phillips; and three great-grandchildren, Natalie, Waylon and Aubree Jean Powell. Also, a special niece, Sheri Lynn Barker, of Tyler, Texas.
Preceding her in death were four brothers, Herman Riggins, Howard Riggins, James “Curley” Riggins and Ed Riggins; and three sisters, Betty Barker, Lorene Abernathy and Mary Hays.
If you ever drove by a home that she lived in, then you already know that a passion of hers was working in her yard. She loved planting and growing beautiful flowers and grasses. One thing she loved more was caring for her grandbabies. She looked forward to every moment she could spend with them. She never missed a volleyball, baseball or basketball game.
