Iva Celeste Holden

Iva Celeste Holden
Iva Celeste Holden, daughter of the late Hershell M. Yates and Geneva Mondy Yates, was born on September 10, 1929 in Rombauer, Missouri and departed this life on June 26, 2012 at the Cypress Point Skilled Nursing Home in Dexter at the age of 82 years.

Mrs. Holden was a resident of Dexter and attended the First Baptist Church in Dexter.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.    

She was united in marriage to Verlin Dempsey “Demp” Holden on September 19, 1946 in Pocahontas, Arkansas.  Mr. Holden preceded her in death on March 27, 2012.

Survivors include three sons, Bill Holden, Stephen W. Holden and wife Mary Kay and Timothy Ray Holden and wife Julie, all of Dexter; by two daughters, Geneva Diane Garrett and husband David of San Antonio, Texas and Terri Rene Morgan and husband Robert of Dexter; by 16 grandchildren and their spouses, Jamie and Johnny Manees of Dexter, Andrew and Amy Holden of Dudley, Natalie D. and Edward A. Riley II of Dexter, Stephen Ryan and Lindsay Emelio Holden of Dexter, Alexa Atkinson of Dexter, Brian David and Betsy Garrett of Olathe, Kansas, Bradley Holden Garrett of San Antonio, Texas, Geoffrey Phillip Garrett of San Antonio, Texas, Jason Lee and Cristi Jo Comfort of Dexter, Joshua S. Comfort of Dexter, Shelly Renee and Wade Wingfield of Henderson, Kentucky, Jennifer M. and Quinton Stone of Henderson, Kentucky, Amy N. and Kip Lemons of Dexter, Robert J. Morgan Jr. of Essex, Tyler and Jeannie Holden of Dexter and Chance Holden of Dexter; by 23 great-grandchildren, Austin Manees, Alexis Holden, Camden Lewis Riley, Avery Catherine Riley, Amelia James Holden, Emma Kay Pennington, Phillip Montgomery Garrett, Maci Jo Comfort, Cali Celeste Comfort, Jase Holden Comfort, Clair Paige Comfort, Wyatt Riley Comfort, Charlie Katelyn Comfort, Jessica Crawford, Jonathon Wingfield, Issac Wingfield, Ava Stone, Eli Stone, Addyson Atherton, Aslyn Lemons, Kylee Morgan, Taylor Morgan and Ashton Holden.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul Yates, John Yates and Earnie Yates; also by three sisters, Helen Brackney, Alberta Hamm, and Verla Clark.

Friend may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5 until 8 p.m., Thursday June 28, 2012.  Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Friday June 29, 2012 in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association, 9370 Olive Boulevard, St. Louis, Missouri 63132.

Beunah Hutchcraft

Beunah Hutchcraft, daughter of the late Sherman and Carrie Pendergrass Pippins, was born on April 26, 1922, in Bernie, Missouri and passed away on Monday, June 25, 2012, in the Golden Living Center in Dexter at the age of 90.

Mrs. Hutchcraft was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Dexter.  She worked as a housekeeper at Doctor’s Hospital in Poplar Bluff and as a sales clerk at Stovall’s Department Store in Dexter.  She was also a resident of Dexter.

She was united in marriage to Donald Hutchcraft on December 11, 1970, in Washington, Illinois.  Mr. Hutchcraft survives of the home in Dexter.

Besides her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Judy Passini of Mansfield, Texas and by one grandson, Robert Orrill of Mansfield, Texas.   

She was preceded in death by five brothers:  Rube Pippins, Herschel Pippins, Lloyd Pippins, Glenn Pippins and Junior Pippins; and by one sister, Norma Carson.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m., Thursday, June 28, 2012 at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter.  Services will then be conducted at 11 a.m., with Larry Thompson officiating.  Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery in Bernie, Missouri.

Lyman Jerry “Nub” Jines

Lyman Jerry “Nub” Jines, son of the late Lyman Lloyd Jines and Cora Mae Knight Jines, was born on March 5, 1934 in Sikeston, Missouri and died on June 24, 2012 at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter at the age of 78.

Mr. Jines was a veteran of the United States Army, where he was deployed to Korea shortly after the Korean War.  He enjoyed fishing and Old Western movies.  He was a resident of Dexter.

He is survived by a special companion of twenty-five years, Earlene Hunt, by one son and daughter in law, Jason Jines and wife Patty of Dexter; by six brothers, Jack Jines of Bloomfield, Joe Jines of Florida, Gary Jines, James Jines, Laddy Jines and Larry Jines all of Dexter; by two sisters, Patsy Cook of Dexter and Judy Hadley of Oregon and by two grandchildren, Trevor and Coty Jines both of Dexter.

 Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Dickerson.

A grave-side service will be conducted at1 p.m., Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with Michael Morrison officiating.  Mr. Jines will receive Full Military Honors.

Betty Faye Cobb

Betty Faye Cobb, daughter of the late James Fowler and Eula Herron Fowler was born on October 10, 1938 at Berry, Alabama and departed this life in her residence at Bernie on June 23, 2012 at the age of 73.

Mrs. Cobb was a member of Sugar Tree General Baptist Church, a former cook in area nursing homes and a resident of Bernie.

She was united in marriage to Willie Lee Cobb on December 14, 1962 at Bernie.  Mr. Cobb preceded her in death on August 27, 2011.

Survivors include two sons, David Bratcher and Donnie Cobb both of Bernie; by three daughters, Kathy Clark of Malden, Sharon Dellinger of Christopher, Illinois and Donna Huffman of Bernie; by one brother, Raymond Fowler of Marble Hill; by four sisters, Mary Cobb and Shelby Chism both of Bernie, Gladys Warren of Pontiac, Illinois and Purnia Hartman of Marston; by 12 grandchildren and 17  great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Carol Ann Earnheart.

Friends may call from 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m., Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie.  Funeral services will then be conducted at 2p.m.. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Bernie with Rev. Dale Hartle officiating.

Joseph Geuin

Joseph Geuin, son of the late Marvin Credale Geuin and Lois Lavina Simpkins Geuin, was born on January 3, 1956 in De Ridder, Louisiana and died on June 19, 2012 at his residence in Dexter at the age of 56.

Mr. Geuin was a pastor; he was affiliated with United Pentecostal Church where he was a member of the ministerial alliance for thirty-nine years.  He was the Senior Pastor of the First Pentecostal Church in Dexter.

On March 26, 1977 he was united in marriage to Cheryial Elliot in Leesville, Louisiana.  Mrs. Geuin survives of their residence in Dexter.

Besides his wife he is survived by four sons, Marcus Geuin of Dexter, Charles Geuin of Cambria, Illinois, Joseph Geuin of O’Fallon, iand Gentry Geuin of Dexter; by one brother, Charles Geuin of Shreveport, Louisiana;  by one sister Linda Thomas of Calhoun, Louisiana, and by three grandchildren.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Paul and Bonnie Tyler. 

Friends may call from 5 until 8 p.m., Thursday, June 21, 2012 First Pentecostal Church on One Mile Road in Dexter.  Friends will also be received 5 until 6:30 p.m., Friday, June 22, 2012 at the First Pentecostal Church.  

Funeral services will be conducted at 6:30 p.m., Friday, June 22, 2012 at the First Pentecostal Church in Dexter with pastors Mike McConnaugey of Mansfield, Louisiana, Mickey Lewis of Aurora, Missouri and Missouri Superintendent of the United Pentecostal Church Stephen Willeford, officiating. 

A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 23, 2012, in the Dexter Cemetery.
