College Celebrates Comunity College Month
April is traditionally Community College Month across America, and Dexter Mayor Joe Weber marked the occasion by signing a proclamation. Weber gathered with a group of Three River College students in the new science lab at the college center in Dexter on Wednesday morning. With Weber were (seated from left) Jordan Adams and Justin Robey, (standing, from left) Jacob Simmons, Jamie Holcomb, Austin Seabaugh, and Brittnany Bedford, and (back) Brian McGowan.   Three Rivers College is based in Poplar Bluff, but has centers in Dexter as well as Malden, Kennett, Sikeston and Cape Girardeau. Three Rivers opened the facility in Dexter in January 2011.  The college enrolls more than 4,300 students and offers traditional face-to-face classes, ITV classes, and online opportunities. Community colleges community colleges serve almost half of the undergraduate students in the United States, providing open access to postsecondary education.
