Steelman To Speak In Dexter

A Republican candidate for U.S. Senate will speak to a local group next week.

Sarah Steelman of Rolla will speak at the Stoddard County Republican Club meeting on Monday, March 19. Steelman is one of three declared candidates seeking the GOP nomination to face incumbent Claire McCaskill in the November 2012 election.

Steelman served in the Missouri State Senate from Phelps County prior to her being elected Missouri State Treasurer in 2004. She brought national attention to Missouri by promoting a "terror-free investment" strategy to the state treasurer's office.

The Stoddard County Republican Club will meet at 6:30 p.m., Monday, March 19 at the Hickory Log in Dexter. A dutch-treat meal will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by Steelman's talk.
