SEMO Concert Features Movie Music

CAPE GIRARDEAU – The Southeast Missouri State University Concert Band and Southeast Wind Symphony, under the direction of Martin Reynolds, conductor, will perform in the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall at Southeast’s River Campus at 7:30 p.m. March 8.

The concert, titled “Cinemagic…Music from TV and the Silver Screen” will feature many popular musical selections from both television and the movies.

The University Concert Band will be the first featured ensemble on the program. The band will perform “The Ludlows” from “Legends of the Fall” by James Horner, music from “The Incredibles” by Michael Giacchino, “Ashokan Farewell” by Jay Unger and taken from the television mini-series “The Civil War” produced by Ken Burns, “The Legend of Zorro” by James Horner, music by Henry Mancini featuring memorable tunes from “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” and “Hatari” and “West Side Story” by Leonard Bernstein.

The Southeast Wind Symphony will perform “The Wind and the Lion” by Jerry Goldsmith, “Ben-Hur” by Miklos Rozsa, “Catch Me If You Can” by John Williams and featuring Ethan Flood, saxophonist, “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina” from “Evita” by Andrew Lloyd Webber, and The March from “1941” by John Williams.

The University Concert Band and Southeast Wind Symphony will perform together again on April 26.
