Choirs Present Holiday Madrigal Feast
By Annabeth Miller, SMT Editor
Continuing a community holiday tradition, the Dexter High School choirs presented its annual Holiday Madrigal Feast this weekend.
Performed for two evening's of sold-out audiences, the students took guests back to the time of "Merry Olde England". The madrigal evening was held at the Lighthouse Christian Center.
The students this year presented "Romancing the Throne or A Night of Knights!" an original play written by John Stephens. Stephens is an English instructor at T.S. Hill Madrigal, and has written the plays presented at the madrigal for over a decade.
The choir is under the direction first-year DHS choir director Jamie Sepulvado.
A Madrigal Feast is a Renaissance-era dinner theater, traditionally set during the Christas holidays and includes a satirical play involved the King, Queen and their Royal Court. During the evening several traditional elements of a Renaissance feast are presented, including Boar's Head, the Wassail punch, Flaming Pudding, and characters like Merlin the Magician, a dragon and Knights of the Kingdom take part in the feast.
