Finalists Announced In Annual Essay Contest

Students at Dexter's T.S. Hill Middle School show their patriotism! The eighth grade students participated in the American Legion Auxillary essay contest this month and eight finalists have been announced. The finalists include (from left) Seth Mouser, Kendall Adams, Mary Kate Miller, Bailey Caldwell, Paige Chasteen, Brittany Brown, Rachael Huntsman and Kayla Ward. The essay contest topic was "How I Show My Patriotism In My Community". These eighth grade students were selected by a six-member committee out of 161 essays written in Malinda Sweeney's Social Studies class. Mary Kate Miller was selected as the winner and she will be reading her essay at the community Veterans Day observance at the BEC Friday morning. (Photo courtesy of T. S.
