Unique Snowbirds Travel with Lewis & Clark
If you are passing over the Mighty Mississippi River today, you might find an unusual sight traveling down the "Old Man". There are two Lewis & Clark reenactment vessels marking their way from the North to the South this week.

SMT Reader Doug Bailiff captured a great picture of one of the two vessels this morning as it passed by his office window in downtown Cape.

It's hard to believe that the Mississippi River was above flood stage during the spring - the water is currently low for this time of year, and the river is predicted to drop another few feet this week.

"It's been really cool seeing some of the private boats heading south for the winter," Baliff said.

This is a unique way of traveling from the Great Lakes states to "Snowbird" destinations along the Gulf Coast during the winter months.
