Charlie Jennings

Charlie Eugene Jennings, son of the late William Frank Jennings and Vida Chase Jennings, was born on March 30, 1929 and departed this life on August 10, 2011 at the same location that he was born, near Dexter, Missouri at the age of 82.
Mr. Jennings was a member of the White Oak General Baptist Church near Bernie and a farmer. In his younger years, he was an avid baseball player and his later years, he enjoyed golfing. He was a former employee of Liberty Township for 34 years, serving as collector/treasurer and as assessor. He was a member of the Bernie Masonic Lodge #573 for 52 years and was a Past Worshipful Master, a former member of the Bernie School Board for 12 years, a former member of the Dexter Memorial Hospital Board of Directors, a former member the Stoddard County A.S.C.S. office, and a former member of the Malden Air Base Fire Department.
He was united in marriage to Patsy Doris Wilson on October 22, 1982 at Dexter. Mrs. Jennings passed away on March 7, 2007.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Jana Jennings of Bernie: by one daughter, Connie Sue Jennings of the home: by one daughter-in-law, Patty Jennings of Powe: by two step-sons, William Sandusky of Lanora City, Tennessee and Charles Sandusky of Dexter: by seven grandchildren, Michael Snelson, Melanie Gojkovich, Michael Jennings, Alex Jennings, Ashley Jennings, Randy Jennings Jr. and Haley Jennings: by seven great-grandchildren, Paige Snelson, Kimberlyn Sandusky, Mikayla Sandusky, Allison Snelson, Kassidy Ballejos, Kiannah Ballejos and Makayla Jennings.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Michael Ray Jennings: by six brothers, Eddie Jennings, Edgar Jennings, Leslie Jennings, Frank Jennings, Arthur Jennings and Dawsey Jennings: by four sisters, Mildred Talley, Rosa Kilmer, Martha Goad and Ruby Horn.
Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie from 5 until 8 p.m., Friday, August 12, 2011. A Masonic Service will be conducted at 7 p.m., Friday evening. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 13, 2011 in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Bernie.
Interment will follow in the Sycamore Cemetery near Bernie.
