Flags To Fly Half-Mast For Missouri Guardsman
JEFFERSON CITY - Missouri Governor Jay Nixon has ordered all U.S. and Missouri flags at state buildings to fly at half-staff Tuesday, Aug. 2, in honor of Specialist Jordan House, 19, of Independence. House was a soldier in the Missouri National Guard who died while helping Missourians affected by recent flooding.

House died July 25 when the pick up truck he was riding in struck the rear end of a tractor trailer on a shoulder of I-435 in Jackson County on July 25.

House and two other guard members were in route from the Maryville armory to the Independence armory in a private vehicle.

House had just been released from a month long assignment fighting floods in northwest Missouri.

Specialist House was assigned to Battery D, First Battalion, 129th Field Artillery Regiment, Independence, Missouri. His awards and decorations include the Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Missouri Basic Training Service Ribbon, and the Missouri State Emergency Duty Ribbon.
