Green Scholarship Endowed at SEMO

The $10,000 endowed scholarship was established through memorial contributions of friends and family.
The renewable scholarship is open to students enrolled at Southeast Missouri State University who are graduates of Bernie, Dexter or Malden high schools. Candidates must have a 3.5 grade point average and plan to pursue a bachelor of science in business administration degree.
The University Scholarship Committee will select the recipient. The first Rodney D. Green Endowed Scholarship will be awarded in fall 2012.
The late Rodney D. Green, of Bernie, who died last month, most recently served as president of the First State Bank and Trust in Dexter. He began his banking career as an officer with the State Bank of Bernie in 1976. He became Bernie manager for the First Community Bank in 1992. A decade later, he was promoted to senior vice president and named the Malden Bank manager. Green was promoted to president of the Malden branch of First Community Bank in 2003. Most currently, he was the president of the First State Bank and Trust in Dexter.
Green, son of Dale and Betty Jo Bowman of rural Campbell, Mo., was born on Sept. 2, 1954, in Kennett, Mo. He was raised on a farm west of Malden. He was a 1972 graduate of Malden Senior High School and attended both Southeast Missouri State University and Arkansas State University. Green completed the Nebraska School of Banking program in 1978 and completed the Graduate School of Banking of the South in 1988.
Green was a member of the Sunnyvale Baptist Church in Malden and the Dexter Kiwanis Club. He married Mary Hueckel Ward at Essex, Mo., on June 17, 2005. Mrs. Green survives and is a resident of Bernie.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Green is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Valerie and husband Chad Crow of Sikeston, Mo., and Jennifer and husband Daniel Neuhaus of Dexter; a stepson, Dustin Ward of Kennett; a sister and brother-in-law, Linnie Harris and husband Max of Jackson, Mo.; and three grandchildren, Karsyn, Carter and Chloe.
