Paul “Shorty” Carlton

Paul L. Carlton, son of the late Carrie and Lige Carlton was born on October 20, 1921 in Fredericktown, Mo and departed from this life on June 21, 2011 at his home at the age of 89 years.
He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Dexter.
Paul was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp serving as a Corporal, Weapons Company, Second Marines, 2nd Marine Division in World War II.
He was united in marriage to Mildred L. Medlin in 1947 at Piggott, Arkansas.
Mr. Carlton was a resident of Dexter most of his adult life, he owned an Auto Part business in Dexter for many years before retiring.
Surviving are his wife Mildred L. Carlton of their home in Dexter, one son Dennis Paul Carlton and daughter-in-law Wendy, and two grandchildren, Katey and Christopher Carlton of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, one sister, Clara Evans of Detroit, Michigan, and one brother, Joe Carlton of Florida, and well as other relatives and many friends.
Other than his parents, Carrie and Lige Carlton, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Millard Carlton, of Dexter, MO, Lloyd Carlton of Pontiac, Michigan and Gene Carlton of Apple Valley, CA.
One of Paul’s greatest pleasures that he always looked forward to were the visits they shared with their son Denny, daughter-in-law, Wendy and their two precious grandchildren Katey and Christopher. They were so very special to him.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 10 until 11 a.m., at Rainey-Mathis Funeral home in Dexter.
Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m., at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Pastor Mike Kohlbaker officiating.
Interment will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with full Military Honors.
