... CHILLY HIGH PRESSURE SPREADING EAST FROM THE SOUTHERN PLAINS WEDNESDAY NIGHT WILL PRODUCE CLEAR AND CALM CONDITIONS OVER THE QUAD STATE REGION. THIS WILL ALLOW TEMPERATURES TO FALL OFF INTO THE 30S LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT. AREAS OF FROST WILL BE LIKELY IN MANY LOCATIONS

...AND SOME AREAS MAY RECEIVE A WIDESPREAD FROST. THE MOST LIKELY PLACES TO SEE WIDESPREAD FROST WILL BE OVER SOUTHERN ILLINOIS AND SOME LOCATIONS IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI ALONG THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER AND IN THE OZARK FOOTHILLS. IN THOSE REGIONS

ELEVATED FIRE DANGER TO CONTINUE THIS AFTERNOON...

TEMPERATURES IN THE LOWER TO MIDDLE 80S COMBINED WITH LOW AFTERNOON RELATIVE HUMIDITY AND SOUTHWEST WINDS 10 TO 20 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS WILL CONTINUE TO RESULT IN AN ELEVATED FIRE DANGER.

THERE HAS BEEN A REPORT OF A FIELD FIRE IN MCCRACKEN COUNTY ALONG 10000 OGDEN LANDING ROAD.

BURNING IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR THE REST OF THE AFTERNOON GIVEN THE VERY DRY AND BREEZY CONDITIONS ACROSS SOUTHEAST MISSOURI...SOUTHERN ILLINOIS...SOUTHWEST INDIANA AND WEST KENTUCKY.

PATCHY FROST EXPECTED OVERNIGHT ACROSS PARTS OF THE QUAD STATE REGION...

PATCHY FROST IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP DURING THE OVERNIGHT HOURS ACROSS PARTS OF THE QUAD STATE REGION. AT THIS TIME,

THE PERIOD OF GREATEST CONCERN FOR FROST DEVELOPMENT WILL SPAN BETWEEN 400 AM AND 700 AM CDT. THE AREA OF GREATEST CONCERN WILL BE ACROSS SOUTHERN ILLINOIS, ESPECIALLY NEAR THE INTERSTATE 64 CORRIDOR, SOUTHEAST MISSOURI, AND THE PURCHASE AREA OF WEST KENTUCKY.

ALTHOUGH A FEW PROTECTED AREAS MAY SEE A HEAVIER FROST DEVELOPMENT, MOST FROST INTENSITY SHOULD BE LIGHT IN NATURE.

MOST HARDY AND WELL ESTABLISHED PLANTS AND SHRUBS SHOULD BE ABLE TO TOLERATE THE DEVELOPMENT OF FROST.

NEWLY TRANSPLANTED PLANTS AND EXTREMELY TEMPERATURE SENSITIVE OUTDOOR PLANTS MAY SEE SOME IMPACT DUE TO THE FROST. TAKE MEASURES TO GUARD THOSE PLANTS AGAINST THE FROST THIS AFTERNOON AND THIS EVENING. ANY LINGERING FROST SHOULD DISAPPEAR COMPLETELY BY 8 AM CDT ON SATURDAY.
