In Memory of Duane Metcalf

Duane Metcalf, son of the late Otto Metcalf and Ethel Kelso Metcalf, was born on August 7, 1934, in Ardeola, Missouri, and departed this life on April 25, 2024, at Memory Lane Nursing Center in Dexter, Missouri, at the age of 89 years.


Mr. Metcalf was a Veteran of the United States Army. He was a former lineman for SEMO Electric, for 36 years. He attended Risen Church in Dexter, Missouri and was resident of Dexter. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.


On July 10, 1959, in Dexter, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Shelba Kilmer. Mrs. Metcalf survives of their home in Dexter.


Along with his wife, he is survived by his son, Wade Metcalf of Burfordsville, Missouri; by his brother, Lawson Metcalf and wife Beverly of Dexter, Missouri; by three sisters, Willene Sturgeon of Bloomfield, Missouri, Kay Goggins of St. Louis, Missouri, and Ilean Hafle and husband Ralph of Little Rock, Arkansas; by his sister-in-law, Sheila Metcalf of Bell City, Missouri; and by his granddaughter, Trish Metcalf of Poplar Bluff, Missouri.


Other than by his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Dwight Metcalf and J.D. Metcalf; and by two sisters, Cleo and Mary Lee.


Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Sunday, April 28, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Travis Lambert officiating. Interment will follow in the Gravel Hill Cemetery in rural Bloomfield.


Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter is assisting with arrangements.
