In Memory of Donald Wayne Nash

Donald Wayne Nash, son of Billy W. Nash and Wanda Hobbs Nash, was born on October 31, 1959, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and departed this life on October 25, 2022, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, at the age of 62 years.

Mr. Nash attended the Cowboy Church in Fisk, Missouri, and was a resident of Dudley, Missouri. He enjoyed playing the drums, riding motorcycles, boating and wood working.

He is survived by his father and mother, Billy and Wanda Nash of Dexter, Missouri, by his sister, Pam Stefanic and her husband Dennis of Dexter, Missouri, by his niece, Amber Cage and her fiancé David Boyer of Herculaneum, Missouri; by his great niece, Marissa Cage, and by his great nephew, Kyle Cage; by special cousin, friend and neighbors, Jerry and Larna McGowan, by other cousins, Jim and Gloria, Billy, Randy, Scott, Lori and Don; by his longtime girlfriend, Carla Short of Dudley, Missouri, by his girlfriend’s sons, Robert Short and Michael Short both of Highland, Illinois; and by two special grandchildren, Kryson Denton and Scarlett Denton.

Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Friday, October 28, 2022, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, October 28, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Kevin Murray officiating.

Interment will follow in the Hobbs Chapel Cemetery, in Puxico, Missouri.

Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter is assisting with arrangements.

In Memory of Carrol Edward Rodgers

Carrol Edward Rodgers of Zalma, Missouri, born to the late Glen Edward and Elizabeth (Gofourth) Rodgers on May 29, 1938, in Asherville, Missouri, passed from this life at his home on October 24, 2022, at the age of 84. 

Carrol had lived the majority of his life in the Southeast Missouri area. He had farmed and also dabbled in antiques. He loved to fish and hunt and especially enjoyed the times he shared with family. He was a member of the Christ Gospel Church of Puxico, Missouri.

He leaves behind five sons, Carrol (Edna) Rodgers Jr. of Zalma, Missouri, Joey Rodgers of Portageville, Missouri, Steven Rodgers of Texas, Gene Rodgers of Dexter, Missouri, and Shane Rodgers of Zalma, Missouri; five daughters, Lisa Forrest of Dexter, Missouri, Theresa Rodgers of Grassy, Missouri, Sonja Moore of Brewston, Tennessee, Angel Rodgers of North Carolina and Andrea Barrett of Zalma, Missouri; two brothers, Michael (Mary) Rodgers of Advance, Missouri and Sam (Bonnie) Rodgers of Zalma, Missouri; three sisters, Mary Lou Adams of Bloomfield, Missouri, Judy (Gene) Lemons of Dexter, Missouri and Linda (Rick) Barrett of Jeffersonville, Indiana.  He is survived by several Grand and Great Grandchildren as well as a host of family and friends.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Charles Lewis, Donald Gene, and Ronald Butch Rodgers; one sister Patty Speer.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. till 1:00 P.M. at the Watkins And Sons Funeral Chapel in Puxico, Missouri, on Friday, October 28, 2022, with funeral service to follow at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Keith Price of Zalma, Missouri, officiating.

Interment will follow at the Puxico Cemetery in Puxico, Missouri, with Watkins And Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.

In Memory of Dennis Ransom (Denny) Cullum

Dennis Ransom (Denny) Cullum 73 of Wappapello , Missouri, passed from this life Sunday, October 23, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Festus Missouri.

The son of the late Hubert Q. and Aline (Platter) Cullum, was born June 25, 1949, in St Louis, Missouri.

He attended the Little Brushy Church in Wappapello. He was very much a people person who never met a stranger. He voluntered at the Wappapello Nutrition Center serving many meals, drove a church bus for a while, loved to swim and spend time with family. Dennis was a very generous and giving person to anyone and everyone he met.

He leaves behind two daughters, Kimberly (Sam) Merritt of Arnold, Missouri, Erenne (Phil) Wolford of Springfield, Missouri; three grandchildren, Sam (Katie) Meritt, Sarah (Nick) Merritt and Alivia Wolford; two great grandchildren, Sydney Merritt and Aiden Hertel as well as a host of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother James Cullum and a close personal friend Jan Hicks.

Visitation will be held Thursday, October 27, 2022, 11:00 A.M. till 1:00 P.M. with funeral service to follow at 1:00 at Watkins And Sons Funeral Chapel in Puxico, Missouri with Pastor Charlie Robertson of Bloomfield, Missouri officiating.

Interment will follow at the Little Brushy Cemetery in Wappapello, Missouri with Watkins And Sons Funeral in charge of arrangements.

In Memory of Eva Nell Zimmerman

Eva Nell Zimmerman, daughter of the late Robert Floyd Allen and Nellie Mae Green Allen, was born in Lexington, Alabama on October 12, 1928 and departed this life at The Arbors at Heritage Place in Lexington, Tennessee on October 25, 2022 at the age of 94. 

Mrs. Zimmerman was a homemaker and a member of Sunnyvale General Baptist Church in Rural Malden, Missouri.

She was united in marriage to Harold Junior Zimmerman in Malden, Missouri on April 3, 1946.  Mr. Zimmerman preceded his wife in death on May 19, 2015

Survivors include two sons, Harold Dewayne Zimmerman & wife Alma of Lexington, Tennessee and Lanny Bruce Zimmerman & wife Casey of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; by one daughter, Janice Annette Fadler & husband Gerald of Bernie, Missouri; by one brother, Roger Allen & wife Grace of Morton, Illinois;  by ten grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, thirty three great-grandchildren, twelve great-great-grandchildren; also by other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death other than by her parents and her husband, by three brothers, Neal Allen, Gene Allen and Kenneth Allen; by two sisters, Edron Wilson and Lillian Swafford.

Friends may call at Sunnyvale General Baptist Church, 40273 State Highway MM, Malden, Missouri on Friday, October 28, 2022 from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M.   

Funeral services will then be conducted at 1:00 P.M. in the Sunnyvale Chapel with Rev. James Hamlett officiating. 

Interment will follow in Bernie Cemetery, Bernie, Missouri.     

Mathis Funeral Home of Bernie is assisting with arrangements.

Verna E. Mesey, daughter of the late Daniel A. Knurbein and Gladys Witthaus Knurbein was born on March 7, 1935 in Berger, Missouri and departed this life on October 22, 2022 at the Cypress Point Skilled Nursing Center in Dexter at the age of 87.

Mrs. Mesey retired from Purolator and was a resident of Dexter. She enjoyed gardening, going to yard-sales and spending time with her family.

She is survived by two sons, Keith L. Mesey and wife Kimberly, and Russell D. Mesey and wife Jeanee; by eight grandchildren, Thomas A. Mesey, Brandon Mesey, Robin Mesey, Shawn Mesey, Shelsie Mesey, Cammeron Mesey, Madison Mesey and Sydney Fingers; by six great-grandchildren, Emma K. Mesey, Shawn Mesey Jr., Owen Konnon, Graceline Declue, Parker Mesey and Silas Bobbit; by one sister in law, Janet Knurbein; by two sisters, Barbara Struckhoff and husband Wayne and Sharon Day.

Other than by her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Scott A. Mesey; by three brothers, Ralph Knurbein, Elmer Knurbein and Kenny Knurbein; by two sisters, Olivia Poeppelmeier and Ruth Schatzler; by two sister in laws, Juanita Knurbein and Jerry Knurbein; and by three brother in laws, Wesley Knehans, Garland Poeppelmeier, and John Schatzler.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at the Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.

Funeral services will then be conducted on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in the Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter.

Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter.
