...WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 3 AM CST WEDNESDAY... WHAT...West winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected. WHERE...Portions of southern Illinois and southeast Missouri. WHEN...From noon CST Tuesday to 3 AM CST Wednesday. IMPACTS...Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Heavy rainfall tonight will create saturated soil conditions, so a few uprooted trees cannot be ruled out. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.

...Gusty northwest winds and wind chills in the 20s expected today... Northwest winds will increase this morning across most of the area with gusts of 30 to 35 mph expected. The winds will bring in much colder air and wind chill values of 20 to 25 degrees are expected for most of the day today making it the coldest day of the season so far. Low temperatures will fall into the teens in many areas tonight. Light snow showers are possible across parts of southwest Indiana but accumulation's are not anticipated.

WHAT...Temperatures dropping into the mid to upper 20s.
WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western Kentucky and southeast Missouri.
WHEN...From Monday evening through Tuesday morning.
IMPACTS...Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above- ground pipes to protect them from freezing.

IMPACTS...Extreme heat and humidity will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS...This will likely be the worst heat wave we have experienced this summer in terms of duration. The multiple day aspect of this excessive heat will add to the impact.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
