Stoddard County, MO - The National Weather Service in Paducah, KY has issued a FREEZE WARNING for Stoddard County from 3 a.m. - 8 a.m. Saturday morning.

Portions of southeast Missouri and southern Illinois

...FREEZE WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 3 AM TO 8 AM CDT SATURDAY...

WHAT...Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 30 expected.

WHERE...Portions of southeast Missouri and southern Illinois.

WHEN...From 3 AM to 8 AM CDT Saturday.

IMPACTS...Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above- ground pipes to protect them from freezing.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Stoddard County, MO - The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Stoddard County, MO.

Description

The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a Flash Flood Warning for... Northeastern Butler County in southeastern Missouri... Central Stoddard County in southeastern Missouri...

Until 815 PM CST.

At 522 PM CST, trained weather spotters reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Trained spotters reported.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Poplar Bluff, Dexter, Bloomfield, Puxico, Essex, Bell City, Fisk, Dudley and Rombauer.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.

...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH MONDAY MORNING...

WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, southeast Missouri, and a portion of western Kentucky along a line from Paducah to Marion to Owensboro.

WHEN...Through 9 AM CST Monday morning.

IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Multiple rounds of heavy rain and thunderstorm will fall over saturated soils. Rainfall totals of 1.5 of 2.5 inches can be expected with locally higher amounts. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

More Information

Heavy rain and thunderstorms will develop this afternoon and through the night as a warm front lifts through the region. Rainfall amounts of 1.5 to 2.5 inches can be expected through Monday morning, which will cause scattered flooding issues to develop.

Stoddard County, MO - The National Weather Service in Paducah,KY has moved the Winter Storm Warning to Noon today from 6 p.m.  It will be in effect until 6 p.m. on Thursday.

All of southeast Missouri, the Purchase Area of western Kentucky and southern Illinois generally west of Interstate 57 and 24

Description

...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 6 PM CST THURSDAY...

WHAT...Moderate to heavy mixed precipitation, mainly freezing rain and some sleet. Ice accumulations one quarter of an inch or more, with some minor accumulations of sleet. The highest freezing rain accumulations are expected to be from the Ozark Foothills to far Western Kentucky.

WHERE...All of southeast Missouri, the Purchase Area of western Kentucky and southern Illinois generally west of Interstate 57 and 24.

WHEN...From 12 PM today to 6 PM Thursday.

IMPACTS...Scattered power outages and some tree damage are likely due to the ice. Travel could be hazardous. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Two rounds of wintry precipitation can be expected. The first will enter Southeast Missouri this afternoon and spread across all of the warning area for the evening and overnight hours. The second will be from midday Thursday on through the afternoon across the Ozark Foothills of Missouri into southwest Illinois. The rest of the warning area should see temperatures rise above freezing Thursday, and switch the precipitation to just rain.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
