SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT UNTIL 1AM CST TUE

...OCCASIONAL WIND GUSTS BETWEEN 35 AND 50 MPH LIKELY AHEAD OF THUNDERSTORMS LATER TONIGHT

... AT 1030 PM CST, THE CURRENT LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS PROMPTING SEVERAL WARNINGS ACROSS MISSOURI STRETCHES FROM THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF MISSOURI TO THE SOUTHWEST CORNER. AS SHOWERS CONTINUE TO DEVELOP AND MOVE ACROSS THE AREA THROUGH MIDNIGHT. WIND GUSTS BETWEEN 35 AND 45 MPH WILL BE LIKELY.

THESE STRONG WIND GUSTS WILL CONTINUE TO EXPAND ACROSS SOUTHERN ILLINOIS, REACHING ACROSS THE OHIO AND WABASH RIVERS INTO SOUTHWEST INDIANA AND WEST KENTUCKY BETWEEN 11 PM AND 1 AM CST. WIND GUSTS MAY EVEN APPROACH 50 MPH OVER PARTS OF SOUTHERN ILLINOIS AND SOUTHEAST MISSOURI NEAR OR AFTER MIDNIGHT, ALONG AND AHEAD OF DEVELOPING THUNDERSTORMS.

IF YOU ARE TRAVELING TONIGHT, BE PREPARED FOR GUSTY WINDS THAT MAY CAUSE ISSUES FOR CONTROLLING YOUR VEHICLE. THIS WILL BE ESPECIALLY PROBLEMATIC FOR TRACTOR TRAILERS, RECREATIONAL VEHICLES, AND OTHER HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES. THESE WINDS MAY DOWN BRANCHES AND SOME TREES WEAKENED BY STORMS EARLY LAST WEEK. IF THESE BRANCHES FALL ON POWER LINES, THIS MAY ALSO CAUSE SOME POWER OUTAGES. ALTHOUGH THE CURRENT LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS REMAINS WELL TO THE WEST, APPROACHING NORTHWEST MISSOURI AS OF 5 PM CST, GUSTY SOUTH TO SOUTHWEST WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO INCREASE THROUGHOUT THE EVENING AND THROUGH THE MIDNIGHT HOUR ACROSS THE QUAD STATE REGION. STRONG WIND GUSTS IN EXCESS OF 35 MPH WILL LIKELY DEVELOP OVER SOUTHWEST ILLINOIS, WEST OF INTERSTATE 57 AND NORTH OF ROUTE 13 IN SOUTHERN ILLINOIS BETWEEN 7 PM AND 8 PM CST. THESE WIND GUSTS WILL GRADUALLY EXPAND ACROSS SOUTHERN ILLINOIS, REACHING ACROSS THE OHIO AND WABASH RIVERS INTO SOUTHWEST INDIANA AND WEST KENTUCKY

BETWEEN 10 PM AND 11 PM CST. WIND GUSTS MAY EVEN APPROACH 50 MPH OVER PARTS OF SOUTHERN ILLINOIS AND SOUTHEAST MISSOURI AROUND OR SHORTLY AFTER MIDNIGHT.

...THE POTENTIAL EXISTS FOR AN OUTBREAK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS AND TORNADOES TONIGHT INTO EARLY WEDNESDAY. STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ARE LIKELY TO DEVELOP ACROSS SOUTHEAST MISSOURI VERY LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND THIS EVENING, THEN OVERSPREAD THE REMAINDER OF OUR REGION TONIGHT.

THE POTENTIAL EXISTS FOR SUPERCELL THUNDERSTORMS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING STRONG TORNADOES, VERY LARGE HAIL, AND DAMAGING WINDS. VERY HEAVY RAINFALL COULD RESULT IN LOCALIZED FLASH FLOODING.

Stoddard County, Missouri - The National Weather Service in Paducah, Kentucky has issued a Special Weather Statement.

SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT WED ...AREAS OF DENSE FOG POSSIBLE EARLY THIS MORNING... MUCH OF THE REGION HAS BECOME SATURATED EARLY THIS MORNING, BUT CLOUDS ARE EXPECTED TO REMAIN OVER MOST OF THE REGION THROUGH DAYBREAK. DESPITE THE CLOUD COVER, DENSE FOG HAS ALREADY DEVELOPED IN A FEW ISOLATED LOCATIONS. THEREFORE, IT IS LIKELY THAT AREAS OF DENSE FOG WILL CONTINUE TO DEVELOP ACROSS THE REGION THROUGH SUNRISE. MOTORISTS EARLY THIS MORNING SHOULD SLOW DOWN AND BE PREPARED FOR RAPID LOSS OF VISIBILITY WHEN THEY ENCOUNTER AN AREA OF DENSE FOG. VISIBILITIES WILL LIKELY DROP TO WELL UNDER A QUARTER MILE AT TIMES. THE DENSE FOG IS LIKELY TO BE MOST WIDESPREAD ALONG INTERSTATE 64 IN SOUTHERN ILLINOIS. CONDITIONS SHOULD IMPROVE AROUND 9 AM. IF THE DENSE FOG BECOMES WIDESPREAD, A DENSE FOG ADVISORY MAY BE NEEDED FOR ALL OR A PORTION OF THE REGION LATER THIS MORNING.
